I agree with you. That is why people are turning it off. If they were being punished people wouldn't be so upset over it. And keep in mind there have been many punished for doing good when it was out of compliance with their rules, and they dogged Tebow for kneeling and praying. The owners and league seem to only support the crap. This practice will and is starting to cost them.Quote:

You can't tell me there hasn't been fall out on the local level as far as endorsements in NFL cities - they are already getting the message and I bet next week the rating dip another double digit negative number...

I agree that many are quick to claim free speech when it suits them and fail to recognize it when it doesn't. I think there are a lot of people and he is one of them that fail to recognize free speech in all of it's forms. As Dwayne says below, you're free speech right does not protect your job within your workplace. Only that the government can't take action against you for your speech. I agree that both sides are guilty of stifling free speech and failure to listen to the other side. What so many fail to recognize is there is absolutely nothing I can do to infringe upon anyone's right to free speech.Quote:

I find a failure to listen to opposing viewpoints troubling. It is not an assault on free speech.
Edit to add: I also find it very troubling that so many people (including very learned people) fail to see the difference between free speech and an assault on free speech. Very similar to Antifa supporting fascist ideals.
Threats of violence would hinder free speech. We've seen violence from one side in many cases when free speech was or was about to be exercised. Berkley is the most recent, but Kapernick's original stance was on the heels of the violence caused by the Police (according to Obama and Holder)
Was with a bunch of liberals (won't use "libtards" because these people actually think a little, even though they usually arrive at the wrong conclusion), and this topic came up (shock :shocked2:). When I made the point that I don't like/agree with the manner in which NFL players have chosen to "protest," because it impugns America and AMERICANS in general i.e. paints with a broad brush, one of my lib friends replied, "well, if some NFL players went on their own time and carried signs in front of a police station you (meaning "me" and people like "me") wouldn't have noticed and wouldn't have cared." She actually understands why many of us are upset by the show of disrespect for the flag and the National Anthem. But, the ends justifies the means in her opinion.

Correct, IMO, the reason Tebow is brought up is with the largely negative and mocking light his kneeling was reported versus the almost fawning coverage the "brave" kneelers receive. I get where they are coming from and don't mind the actual kneeling (as it indicates more reverence than standing), but they are anything but brave.Quote:
