We all know these so-called "shut downs" are nothing more than paid vacations for NON-ESSENTIAL Federal employees. Their paychecks do not suffer one dime.
That's the way it's been for all Federal employees I know, and have worked with. I was a Federal employee at one time, US Forest Service, but there were no shut downs at that time. But, I know, for a fact, the Federal employees I have worked with, like at Fort Polk (civilian Federal employees), had ALL of their back-pay restored after a shut down. Now, they might have had a smaller check first...but the next one after the shut down was over was bigger than usual, with missed pay added back in.
My brother-in-law is a civilian Federal employee, US Army, logistics. He's been thru this before too.
Sorry, I thought the shutdown is for “non essential “ employees only. That was what they did on the last one. Under Obozo, the “public” sector grew so much. I don’t work for the guberment directly (thank God) but I still have to work.
Sorry if you personally lose pay.
You think! :icon_roll: Hum...led by group, which is comprised of about 40 U.S. and Mexican activists. :icon_roll:
Migrant organizer accused of downplaying risks of dangerous trek to border
Pueblo Sin Fronteras, a group of activists escorting the migrant caravan of thousands of Central Americans traveling to the U.S., is being blamed by many — including the migrants themselves — for encouraging such a risky trek.
The group, which is comprised of about 40 U.S. and Mexican activists, gave the caravan an option in October. The migrants were asked whether they wanted to continue to the U.S. southern border or stop in Mexico, where the government offered to let them stay.
Pueblo Sin Fronteras, or People Without Borders, warned the migrants the offer might be too good to be true and called on a voice vote — to which the crowd yelled to keep moving toward the U.S.
Since then, former allies and some migrants have said the group downplayed the risks involved, particularly for those with families and small children.
The organizers also were accused of misleading caravan migrants about how long they would have to wait on the Mexican side of the border to apply for asylum.

Just finished reading a paper on the German involvement in the Middle East during WWI. The Germans allied with the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) against the British and French and their Arab allies. Remember that movie "Lawrence of Arabia" which chronicled that war in Arabia. What was interesting early on...while the Ottoman Empire was still officially neutral...was how the British treated travelers from there. "Assume they are enemy agents" was the order. This tight security led to the detainment, arrest, and eventual execution of Robert Mors, an American born German agent who was disguised as a Turk entering Cairo as a businessman. His arrest led to a world wide outcry. Some US Congressmen went ballistic demanding Mors' release. He represents a non-belligerent nation, Turkey, and his detainment is unlawful. Fortunately, for them, British Intelligence told said Congressmen to go take a flying leap. Mors gave up Curt Phufer, his German mentor, operating in the Middle East. Outed, Phufer no longer hid, but became a visible German agitator. The Turks did declare their alliance with Germany and declared war on Britain, and all of their allies.
Early in WWI, in the Middle East, the prize was the Suez Canal. Control of that was crucial for movement of navies, and troop transports. The Turks, with the help of Phufer and other German military advisors, mustered a powerful, and modern, 17,000-man army to attack and capture the Suez Canal. At that time, the British had fewer than 3,000 troops guarding the Canal, supported by 4,000 Egyptians. Of the Egyptians, the British commander wrote, "They are not very good soldiers, and that when they decide to muster in." Apparently, the Egyptian soldiers often never showed up for roll call.
Fortunately for the British, and much to the chagrin of Phufer, the Turks ignored urgings to move quickly to the attack. Instead, the Turks went on a 3-week long tour of the Holy Land, spending 4 days in Mecca alone. Whatever advantage they would have had disappeared. The Turks were brave in their attacks, but by the time they reached the Suez Canal, the British had brought in reinforcements. Now 30,000 veteran British soldiers were dug in in defense of the Canal. And the Brits were in no mood to be nice. They slaughtered the Turks! Afterwards, mounted British troops and their Arab allies pursued the defeated Turks. The remnants were systemically hunted down and killed. Phufer was able to procure a German aircraft and barely escaped.
Phufer survived WWI and actually was at it again, in the 1930's, as an agent for the Nazis. He was again in the Middle East trying to stir up trouble and recruit allies for the Axis powers.

Lamestream media didn't pick up on that story, I guess. Yet they seem to report on all the officer involved shootings, regardless of the perp's national origin.
How many police were killed by citizens?
Off topic as usual. But tell me first how many and the percentages which are killed by minorities and illegals.
