It was more nuanced than that. I saw the interview on CNBC that Foxbusiness is quoting.

And don’t forget he also said:

“As you get up to age, like, 13 and higher, then you’ll have to look at your locale to decide what you’ll do with high schools,” Gates said. “And if they’re not in, then you have to put massive effort into trying to get there to be continued learning online.”

If Trump did everything that Gates called for in that interview, we would be in much better shape. Gates knows his stuff.

Can't learn online if you don't have internet. Obama didn't do a good job of getting free internet to the poor (just phones). Bad Orange man should have already fixed this right?

I do recall that the Federally backed expansion of high band-width fiber optics was defunded...or more accurately, not continued-funded back in 2014 or 15. It had reached Natchez, and during the lull while they figured out the best way to run it across the wide, mighty Miss River...the program stalled. I was working with the City of Vidalia as a consultant at that time. They had three projects going, all of which would have really put Vidalia on the map. The new high capacity fiber optics would enter rural Louisiana at Vidalia, across from Natchez, two, Vidalia had spent some money improving their port and were in line to receive some Federal assistance to expand the port, and third, Vidalia was poised to become the owner of the new hydroelectric dam/power plant whereby every citizen of Vidalia would get FREE electricity, and commercial customers would just pay some nominal fee. Vidalia was on the brink of greatness!

Well, the obummer administration ended the fiber optics program...Strike 1...the Feds backed out of the port deal, since there would be no high speed Internet in Vidalia...Strike 2...and then when the Feds turned the power plant over to Louisiana/Vidalia, Baton Rouge hijacked it denying Vidalia its contractual ownership of the plant. The city had donated the land for the plant to be built and provided other services in exchange for Vidalia being granted ownership of it after a certain number of years. I think there is a lawsuit hanging out there, but y'all know how that goes, what chance does tiny Vidalia have vs. The State of Louisiana with crooked politicians in BR controlling everything?

Then, to make matters worse, Vidalia had hired some hotshot city manager from "up north" to guide the city into their new future. The bastard embezzled something like $1.2 million from the city coffers and headed for the Cayman Islands. Strike 4!

Oh, got off on a tangent...:shocked2:...anyway, the Federally funded expansion of the Internet to rural areas ended under obummer, and has never been picked up, to my knowledge.

Los Angeles Teachers Union gave a list of demands before they go back to work.. They are all political and left wing.. nothing to do with the children:

Defund police
Wealth Tax (state wide)
New Income tax (state wide)
Single Payer Healthcare
No more charter schools.. (guess they don't like the competition)
More money for homeless, more homeless shelters
Extra 250M from Fed Taxpayers..

Looks like L.A. won't be having school for quite some time... This hurts the low income families the most.. Science has proven children need to be in school, and the best learning happens "in person".

Now this craziness from Dr Frankenstein/Fauci. I bet he’s going for a full burka next.

Foxnews is getting carried away with what he actually said.

Fauci recommended goggles in addition to a face mask for those who want “perfect protection” from the COVID-19, but admitted it’s not “universally recommended.”

Face masks are easy. Goggles are not. It is just the truth that face masks are not perfect protection. If worn by everyone it slows the spread, but it isn’t perfect.

RIP, Herman Cain.

Curious how many people each of you have known personally with COVID-19 and the current status / outcomes. I am just curious how "real" this is to most people. It got real for me this past two weeks.

I have known six. Five of them within the last two weeks. All five of those from community spread. All under the age of 40. One is currently in the hospital on a ventilator.
Update: make that seven. This one is over 40.

I know more than a dozen. But they are pilots/flight attendants who due to their job, they come in contact with more people than a "normal" person. I am surprised that no one in my immediate family hasn't contracted it yet.. ( I probably just jinxed myself). My daughter (who is temporarily living with us) is an ICU nurse in largest county hospital in DFW, and works in Covid unit every day. My wife works in doctor's office that does Covid testing and they have a lot of positive patients that are in the facility.

I know a bunch. Various symptoms and severity. Some with no fever which I think is strange. My daughter tested positive just before she gave birth to our grandson. A staff wearing space suits helped deliver. All three (mom, dad, and baby) have since tested negative. My brother tested positive early this week. He is 58 with comorbidities.
