National Cereal Day
March 7th, 2012
The first breakfast cereals were created in the late 19th century as a vegetarian alternative to the typical meat-tastic breakfast of eggs, bacon, sausage and beef. For years cereal enthusiasts were all, 'Hey look over here! You may have a meat trifecta, but we have bran nuggets that have to be soaked in milk overnight!' Not surprisingly, cereal didn't really take off until the brothers Kellogg came up with some more appetizing cereals, beginning in 1877 with granola, then wheat flakes, and finally corn flakes. To this day, cereal is a popular and healthy breakfast choice, unless you happen to favor the marshmallow-coated, chocolate infused, sugar sprinkled variety.

My boys love their "Chucky Larms!"

On this day in 1876, Alexander Graham Bell patented the telephone. His marvelous invention would come to revolutionize the communication industry and forever spare us from certain awkward face-to-face conversations. Originally, Bell suggested we all say 'ahoy' when answering the phone, but then Thomas Edison totally ruined everything by changing it to 'hello.' So today in honor of Bell, when you pick up the phone let out a hearty 'ahoy!'
This is how the phone should be answered

National Be Nasty Day
March 8th, 2012
Why put your best foot forward when you could use that foot to kick in the door and show everyone how rotten you can be? Get in your car and do some donuts on your neighbor's front lawn. Run through the aisles of the supermarket and tear everything off the shelves. Show up five minutes late to a meeting and don't even bother making an excuse. Sure, at the end of the day you might not have any friends left, but they were cramping your style anyway.

You could be sitting in jail on your cramped style after all that!

National Crabmeat Day
March 9th, 2012
Crabs of all sizes and varieties are feeling a bit used today. Sure we appreciate crabs for their meat, but they have so much more to give. The Maryland Blue crab feeds scores of hungry tourists, but it also keeps the harmful Green Crabs out of Chesapeake Bay. And the Red King Crab absorbs melted butter splendidly, but the males have also been known to travel more than 100 miles annually. And when you're walking sideways, that's no easy task. With such gross oversights, it's no wonder they're crabby.
