A 16,000 sq foot Main Library here in Homer
and a 3,000 sq foot branch in Haynesville
We have intentions of replacing the Haynesville branch with a 14,000 sq foot renovated bank bldg within the next five years
Our library budget is only $700,000 annually
Main Branch in Homer is really a gem - meeting room that will host close to 100 people for meetings and an additional conference room both with great AV capabilities and then we have about 20+ public use computers throughout the bldg
We are not excessive like Lincoln, Bienville, Webster and Shreve...
Lincoln just throws money away and Bienville has it to blow...

Our parish spends like all the money held behind every door in Squire Creek is at the parish’s disposal. It’s insane

If your sister wants to host an event in Claiborne - we would be more than happy to schedule something -
We host authors and artists all the time...

The author of the following article doesn't think highly of one of the undergraduate degree that Louisiana Tech's new president obtained from Northwestern State University. It appears that he (Jim Henderson) has been able to milk it for all it is worth.

Will keep that in mind. She tries to do something here locally when they visit from Nashville

They'll give anyone a blog these days.

Henderson was an English/journalism major at NSU. Got his master's from West Florida in "administration" and his PhD from Maryland-University College in management. Whatever his degrees he has landed the most prestigious gig in academia in Louisiana, and one of the top slots in the South. Even if I do say so myself.

Yeah, I think almost everything about that blog is wrong-headed and backwards thinking, but specifically if your degree allows you to get the job you want - then it worked out and there isn't a problem. The issue would be if every English major had the expectation of eventually becoming a University president, which I don't think is the case. Or, I guess, the author has some vague issues with the way he thinks English departments operate or something and maybe thinks that is harmful in itself???
Seems to have worked out for Dr. Henderson either way. Probably gave him (or developed) a lot of skills he used in getting his other degrees and in his professional life. College isn't trade school (to quote Champ967, I believe).

Did I miss something? A commentator for the Baylor women’s basketball game just referred to shots close in to the basket as “red zone” attempts. Is that a thing or did she literally just make that up on the spot?

WBB red zone is the paint.

I love Leap Day.
In '08 it was my first day of work (at a place that I'm still working).
But best of all on Leap Day '12 my middle kid was born. Cool birthday for a cool kid (he gets it from his Momma).
So much fun to celebrate when it actually rolls around.

Faith in our youth restored somewhat. Long story……
My son is in his first year playing golf. Somehow, he was paired with upperclassman from Ruston, Neville, and West Monroe in a tournament yesterday. He was bummed because he knew he was slowing them down all day. Then on the 5th hole, he knocked his approach within 3 feet and made the putt. The older guys celebrated with him like he won the whole tournament. Those parents and coaches should be proud. If you know them, please brag on them for me.

Heard a rumor that either our university or a student organization honored George Floyd this week. Anyone confirm?

It's likely bait for anyone who would dare speak out against it. This seems to be the fishing expedition taken on by you know who.

It's illegal to not honor saints of the ruling religion.
