FIU joins Rice in pushing start date to 9/26. Loses Jacksonville State/UCF games.
Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
No NCAA championships this FALL as each sports has dropped below 50% participation. This of course doesn't effect CFB Playoff, as that is not run by NCAA.

Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
All FCS conferences have cancelled FALL conference season. Some have allowed members to play non-conference games. Most look to play in the Spring.

Rece Davis says spring football is 'completely irresponsible'
https://247sports.com/Article/Big-Ten-Pa...scheduled.
He makes some great points in this article. He's very concerned about teams playing football in the spring, and then coming back to try to play football again next fall in 2021 when everything is over. He talks about how unhealthy this is for the players to play two seasons in such as short period of time, and he's right.
Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
Spring football is a talking point. Nothing more. It can't and won't happen unless some of the FCS schools pull it off. I believe some of those who don't care about spring sports (SWAC and MEAC) may try.
Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
According to our AD, HBU is still playing us.
I have spoken with
@HBUHuskies
AD this morning in light of the
@SouthlandSports
decision regarding fall sports. He confirmed that HBU will indeed play
@LATechFB
as scheduled. We look forward to hosting the Huskies on September 19th in The Joe!

I agree. It's something to talk about as part of the narrative of this situation. But when it comes down to it, if your mind set is we can't play in the fall because of disease, you're pretty likely to say it's too much football in a year to play two seasons. Even if one or both seasons hare abbreviated schedules.
Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
Is there any talk at all of changing the schedule and playing Baylor? We have lots of interest in that game at my house and have been looking forward to the game and lots of friendly trash talking.

I don't think so.
I was looking forward to making the trip if fans were allowed. My next door neighbor signed with Baylor and will probably red shirt. He was not offered by Tech until Baylor and half the football world went after him.

We had reservations for the weekend. My daughter goes there and another will go next year. We were going to have 3 in blue and 2 in green.

I hope y’all don’t mind but I cleaned the nonsense out of these thread (or at least as much as I could find using my phone).
Edit: I got on a laptop this morning and cleaned up some more (I'm sure there's a straggler or 2). 65 total posts were moved to Political forum under nonsense.

Politics is not nonsense. Some (ahem, on the Left) are full of nonsense, but politics is a huge part of Louisiana culture, ranking right up there with food and football.

Well dang. Ok... but you do know the two current issues are unfortunately married right?
