Sorry, this didn't copy and paste well...
Allow me to summarizes the latest chart re: Louisiana statewide ICU beds vacancies.
1,508 total ICU beds in the state, as of today, 164 are available. That's about 11% open. State is divided into 9 regions and every region has some open ICU beds. Email from our CEO says this is very encouraging news, and he made the leap to expressing hope this means our Delta variant cases have spiked in Louisiana and we are over the hump, passed the worse. Of course, who really knows? Doesn't hurt to "hope" though.

There is no discrepancy. You are forming an opinion on anecdotal evidence.

I don’t to read the crap y’all post because I’M LIVING IT. Y’all throw out BS like “well I heard” and “this one time in Oklahoma”…I don’t care to read it because I’m telling you I can’t provide the same level of care to my patients because all the hospitals in MS are overwhelmed. And generally “hospital beds” aren’t the issue. It’s ICU beds, critical care staff (nurses, techs, therapists) and non-critical care staff that are the issue.
You think we’re treating patients out of tents being staffed by federal employees and Samaritan’s purse cause it’s fun.
There are things that can be debated about this pandemic but COVIDs effect on hospitals is not one of them and I get really pissed by any insinuation otherwise.
Please have a conversation with the administrators that run your hospitals. I’ve spent several nights in the ER with my parents because there were not rooms available long before Covid 19…. I’ve seen piss poor care from hospitals long before Covid. I’ve seen misdiagnosis from ER docs and hospitalists long before Covid…..There is a good chance the problem isn’t Covid….

Meanwhile, here in Texas, an otherwise healthy person I know, who chose not get vaxxed based on what she read on social media, finally got the okay to get the monoclonal antibody treatment…hopefully early enough. Symptoms started on Friday but have steadily gotten worse.

is she in the hospital? On a ventilator? At home?

Unfortunately, there are doctors out there that don’t take early intervention seriously. I’ve been to a couple here in NWA.
Let me say that I’ve never tested positive. But I asked ahead of time what their treatment procedure would be.
And I am vaccinated because of my age and the fact that I’ve had cancer.

No…that just shows there’s a good chance that there are problems other than COVID (a position NO ONE disagrees with).
I pray you don’t have to take anyone to the ER now or in the near future.
COVID has exacerbated every inefficiency and weakness in the system. I talk pretty regularly to administrators at WK, Ocshner, and Christus…this is no media narrative. This is a real problem.

It’s been a problem for some time. It doesn’t take much to tip the scale.

I don't think anyone disagrees with that. Covid has shown us all how vulnerable our entire medical system is here in the U.S. Most U.S. hospital systems are highly disorganized, badly under-staffed, short on beds and totally unprepared for a real pandemic should a new one occur again.

The idiots who make the decisions for the FDA lend greatly to our overall health problems. They take more money under the table than Skip.
Re: Vax Card or Negative Test for Entry to Joe Aillet
…but hey, let’s wait to see what the FDA says about taking the shots

If I were paid millions for running a shitty system I would double down and say what I needed to protect my interest’s as well.
Re: Vax Card or Negative Test for Entry to Joe Aillet
Real science has no bias…the results are what they are…..Historically that has not been well received.

They do pretty thorough background checks for that stuff. Tough for conspiracy theorists to get through at the top levels. There’s a CFO shortage though…so who knows?
