Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Maybe this is because I live in Houston, which is only a couple of hours from College Station and I have to hear Aggie crap from my brother all of the time...but those of you think that Shreveport is a home game are out of your mind. Aggies will outnumber us 3 to 1. And yeah, we'll have alot of eyes on the game...but to me, I'd be embarrassed by calling it a "home" game and having the nation see that we're outnumbered. If we're going to do that, we might as well keep a home game with Lamar and get rid of a different away game and just go to College Station. Pay out would be the same, and atleast we have an excuse if there is a poor showing.
That's not to say I don't want to play them. I think our chances of beating aTm are higher than we are giving ourselves credit for. Tannehill is gone, as are their twop two running backs I believe (I can't remember if Cyrus Gray is back or not, but I think the other one is gone). They are going to install brand new schemes and will likely only still be in a game with us due to the talent they've recruited. Other than that, I think we will field the more experienced team.
Nothing is guaranteed in College which is why who we play is irrelevant. I just hope our administration makes a good choice that builds us up for the long term and not just for short gains. Sadly, I've seen this movie before, and I don't think the ending has changed.

Exaggerate much? I disagree whole heartedly. I think we outnumber by a substantial margin, especially if this is marketed properly.

I imagine 3 to 1 is a little strong, but it's not unreasonable to think it could be 50/50. I'll never underestimate the cult's willingness to travel...

3 to 1 is pushing it but it would def be 50/50... I would go as far as saying it would be a 50/50 crowd at THE JOE!!!! The Cult travels...and the idiots are jacked up about the first season in the SEC with a new coach...

No offense Pix but that's dreaming at this point.
My two points are out of the box. Sorry you're stuck in the sand. LOL!
As for (1) Miss State is a bunch of goobers.
And, (2) If TV wants it on Sunday, by God, it'll be played on Sunday.
Now that we got that out of the way. . . . . Has anyone volunteered to host Tech BOP members who might need a place to stay and be fed while they're practicing a couple of weeks to compete against the Aggie Band???
You know it's the offseason and the BOP belongs in every BB&B thread.

Last time we played them in Shreveport, when A&M was actually good, IMO we outnumbered them probably 60/40. What do you think has changed since then, that will now have them outnumbering us 3-1??

Because back then, he just didn't want to play a game in Shreveport. Now, he REALLY doesn't want to play a game in Shreveport.

We have a bunch of drama queens on this board posting to a rumor.

And still it's only a rumor at this point guys. The number of my fellow Tech alumni that are Negative Nancy's/Debbie Downer's/Henny Penny's still amaze me. It's truly embarrassing! Granted practically all of us would all rather play this game in Ruston. But if it's in Shreveport then grab a set, buy as many tickets as you can for the game and cheer like you've never cheered before. I do want school to be in session ...I will say that for sure due to student body attendance! We can beat these guys and this is the year to do it! Shreveport used to be, and feel, like a major home game and it can and will be again. Now get your act together and pretend like you've "been there and done that" before because universities do this type of thing every year. And again, it's only a rumor at this point.

Exactly!!
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
In 1999 there were about 42K in attendance. 15K aTm fans, 25K Tech fans (which might have included some of the hybrids, such as a Tech/LSU fan combo) and about 2K casual fans, just there to see good college football.
In 2002 there were about 33K, with 3K Miami fans, 25K Tech fans, and larger group of casual fans there to see Miami, about 5K.
In 2003 there were about 34K, with 7K Okla State fans, again 25K Tech fans, and the same 2K casual fans.
We have been fairly consistent with that 25K in attendance.
So, play ALL games in Ruston and be done with it. Bring in temp seating if someone thinks those seats can be sold.
Note: I might have gotten the years ('02, '03) messed up.
Miami was on Thursday? Why don't I remember that?
(Shutup, HD, you're getting old too.)

Because back in 99, which I believe was the last time we played them in Shreveport, it was the final year of the 5 year NCAA imposed sanctions. Attendance during that time period was down from the average except for some of the marquee games. As I recall, aTm was still suffering from that both in terms of recruiting and the morale of the fan base.
Now, the fan base is pretty energized from moving to the SEC and new coaching. Also, Shreveport isn't that far of a trip. That's why I think it would be different. It looks like there were 40k present at that game, which I give you probably swings the divison of fan bases in our favor. I would expect that attendance to increase, but my guess is there would be a larger percentage increase of Ags vs our group this time around.
With that said, if you take our average attendance of 21K (http://www.latechsports.com/sports/m...112611aac.html) and the max capacity of the Independence Stadium (59k), that still leaves you ~38K. Assuming that we bring the average and A&M fills out the rest and packs the house, it's still a 2:1 ratio (so yes, my 3:1 ratio was high). Granted there are several other factors that could impact how those attendance numbers look on game day (weather, date, time, etc.,) so that ratio could go up or down just as easily.
EDIT:
If those numbers from Dawg80 hold up, then the "Shreveport isn't a home field" argument is irrelevant. I have no problem stating that my claims are wrong if they turn out to be (hell, I'm happy if they are wrong since I am a glass half empty kind of guy). Indications I have been hearing is that aTm would travel, but history is often a better indicator, and there's just as much sound reasoning to expect less Aggies will attend if they decide to instead travel to one of the SEC away games.

Move the 2013 @ Houston game to 2015?

Way off on this number...
Official capacity is right around 52K which everyone knows is about 3K too many than you can seat in there -
There are about 48K to 49K PERMANENT seats in the stadium
Re: Tech vs TAMU in Shreveport this fall
Indy doesn't hold 59K. More like 48K.
