How about this pesky fact. We won again. We are so bad we're 7-3. I believe that's where most predicted way back in August. We will probably win one more to beat our own predictions.
Re: 11/10: Rice Game (RED OUT)
Smith has now had 24 career starts. Team is 14-10 in those games. Please don't post career stats for Smith in an attempt to portray him as some "great" QB in Tech history. How many career starts did Sokol, Driskel, Higgins have? By the time he is finished, probably, Smith will have 40 career starts. Provided he continues as the starter, of course. By then, by sheer force of a frickin' 40 starts, he'll probably rack up some career stats that places him near the top of some lists. But, he sucks. Period.
Defense is not great, but they are above average...to very good, at times....and special teams have not been hurting us lately. ST has shown improvement, actually. It's the offense that is lagging behind. That is because of Holtz/Smith. Said it before, we Tech fans KNOW what a good college football QB looks like. Take your BS somewhere else.

Yep. I predicted 7-5. We'll likely finish 8-4, and 9-3 is still a possibility. Yeah I know that means beating USM, but they are a lot like FAU this year. They're good, and they're capable of beating anyone in CUSA on any given Saturday, which they demonstrated last night with their near-miss. But, they have also laid some eggs, losses to ulm and Charlotte. Other than some jinx they seem to hold over us, I see no reason the Dawgs can't get it done in H'burg.
So! great right? Well...not so much. Still have that pesky fact we have no real QB, and Holtz insists on this joke of a vanilla offense which limits what success we COULD have.

Yep, I believe I predicted 9-3. We are about where we should be considering the level of competition.
I’m hoping we get to play ULM in our bowl game.
Re: 11/10: Rice Game (RED OUT)
Post-game defense notes...
• Senior defensive end Jaylon Ferguson leads the defense with 40 career starts.
• The Bulldog defense registered three interceptions on the night, the most they have had in a single game since Dec. 20, 2017 in the DXL Frisco Bowl against SMU.
• The defense allowed only 226 passing yards, marking the 16th straight game the Bulldogs have not allowed 300+ yards passing.
• Linebacker Collin Scott came up with not one, but two interceptions (the first INTs of his career). He became the first Bulldog with multiple interceptions in a single game since Secdrick Cooper had two versus South Alabama last season.
• Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed snagged his team-leading third interception of the season which came late in the first quarter. It was the fifth of his career.
• Linebacker Dae’Von Washington led the Bulldogs with seven tackles.
• Safety James Jackson and defensive end Willie Baker each had one sack.
Re: 11/10: Rice Game (RED OUT)
The defense is playing well. Really well when you consider they get only minimal help from the offense, and not too much help from an average, at best, special teams. The one aspect missing for the defense is take-aways. I don't know the numbers, but it appears the 2018 defense is lagging way behind past defenses in forcing turnovers. Did have three last night, but that exception proves the rule this year.
16 straight games not allowing 300 yds passing. That is very good.

• Quarterback J’Mar Smith went 21-for-34 for 314 passing yards and one touchdown. It marked his fourth 300+ passing game of the season and the seventh of his career. The seven 300+ games are now tied with Terry Bradshaw for the seventh most in program history.
• With his touchdown pass, J’Mar Smith now has 31 for his career which is tied for the 10th most in program history.
• Running back Jaqwis Dancy had 15 carries for a team-high 80 yards to go along with a career-high three rushing touchdowns. He now has a team-high nine touchdowns on the season while becoming the first Bulldog to rush for three scores since Boston Scott did it at Rice last season.
• Wide receiver Adrian Hardy posted a career-tying 10 receptions (on 10 targets) for 160 receiving yards. It marked the third time this season Hardy has recorded 100+ receiving yards in a single game. He now has 817 total receiving yards this season.
• Adrian Hardy reeled in a 49-yard reception, marking his fourth catch of the season of 40+ yards.
• Wide receiver Teddy Veal hauled in five catches, upping his reception total to a team-high 55 this season.
• Wide receiver Wayne Toussant caught his first reception as a Bulldog. The freshman reeled in a 44-yard catch in the fourth quarter.
You conveniently left out the fact that J'Mar had 3 costly turnovers last night.....2 INT's and a fumble. Also, a couple of J'Mar's deep completions were nothing more than blind luck. Even the TV announcers joked that J'Mar closed his eyes and threw the "Hail Mary" pass into double coverage that was completed to Hardy at the Rice 2-yd line.
Hardy is turning out to be an incredible receiver. He is a true deep threat that will fight for the ball.
Alfred Smith also had a good night. He had 3 catches for 56 yds, and scored on the Jet Sweep for Tech's 4th TD.

Agree about the Tech defense playing solid. And don't under estimate some of those key tackles made by Amik last night. He was a game changer, defensively.
Our Defense got at least 2 turnovers last night that gave our Offense the ball fairly deep in Rice territory. (I don't remember what part of the field we got the 3rd turnover.) Unfortunately, our offense didn't capitalize on either turnover opportunity, and during one exchange, our offense immediately turned the ball back over to Rice on their very first play from scrimmage.
The Tech offense is still spitting and sputtering, despite the lipstick some others want to apply to the pig.

Id say 2 “costly” turnovers. The last one would have just padded our score. The last one shouldnt have happened, though. It wasnt a good throw, probably should have just handed it off again.

That might just expose our flaws to an undeniable level for all to see and understand.

Best of both worlds. Either beat 'em and shut 'em up or provide undeniable proof that what we're doing simply isn't good enough.

That’s exactly why I hope we play them.
