National Eight-Track Tape Day
April 11th, 2012
Kids these days. Scooting around on their skateboards, listening to that crazy rap music on their tiny little mp3 players. Those things are getting smaller every year. Surprised they don't just lose them in the folds of their giant sweatshirts or the massive pockets of their baggy jeans. Back in our day, music just wasn't music unless it was recorded on magnetic tape and rolled up in a bulky plastic cartridge that was sensitive to dust and temperature extremes. Yes, I'm talking about the eight-track tape. 46 straight minutes of sweet, sweet music.

In case you forgot what an 8-track looked like! My dad had one of these when I was a kid.

Fondue is a warm batch of Swiss culinary deliciousness that makes for one swinging party. Simply melt a big ol' pot of cheese and serve with bread, veggies and skewers. Party guests will gather round and dig in. It's all fun and games' until someone loses an earring. Then it's time to switch over to the pigs in a blanket.
Looks like a fun party

Hey, I may be a little behind but I heard that CUSA and MWC may try some sort of merger thing. Wonder what our chances are?

So did mine. We also had one of those cassette to 8track convertor things due to the old stereo in our car.

I saw one of these Attachment 9134 at Walmart and laughed. Do cars still have tape players?

Big Wind Day
April 12th, 2012
On this day in 1934, three weather surveyors on Mt. Washington in New Hampshire recorded the highest velocity natural wind ever measured on Earth. Once the wind died down and they'd had a chance to comb their hair and clean up the papers it blew all over the place, they found the gust had reached a whopping 231 miles per hour. Ever since then, New Hampshire residents have been known to refer to major news events as, 'The biggest thing to happen since that really big wind we had that one time.'

Look Up At The Sky Day
April 12th, 2012
Look up at the sky today. Gah! Not directly into the sun. Are you okay? Yeah you'll be seeing those spots for a few minutes. Anyway, next time look up and admire the clouds. Hey, that one looks like a rabbit! Whoops, sorry, didn't mean to make you look again. You know what, just wait until tonight and check out the stars. Much safer.

Russian Cosmonaut Day
April 12th, 2012
It was on this day in 1961 that Russian Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became this first man in space, orbiting the earth aboard Vostok 1. Many consider this to be the event that started the space race between the US and the Soviet Union. And we maintain that race isn't over until someone builds an amusement park on the moon.
