Kindergarten Day
April 21st, 2012
In 1840 Friedrich Fröbel opened the first Kindergarten in Germany as a program for transitioning young children from the experience of being at home to the experience of being in the classroom. The Kindergarten day is made up of story time, nap time and snack time. As adults, we know it doesn't get much better than that.
National Chocolate Covered Cashews Day
April 21st, 2012
Trust us. There's pretty much a holiday for every kind of chocolate covered nut known to man. And from what we can tell, chocolate covered cashews aren't any better than the rest. But they are more expensive than almonds or peanuts, so if you have expensive taste, today is your day.
Earth Day
April 22nd, 2012
All year long you walk all over the earth. Literally. You also drive on it, bike on it, and play on it. You surf in earth's oceans, chill out in the shade of its trees, ski down its snowy slopes. So on this day, do something nice for the planet that does so much for you.
Girl Scout Leader Day
April 22nd, 2012
Anyone who chooses to be trapped in the woods with a troop full of rambunctious, loud tweens on a weekend camping trip should earn a merit badge for Patience.
I haven't been on line for two days. Doesn't look like I missed much!
National Picnic Day
April 23rd, 2012
Picnics combine 3 of the world's best things: eating, eating outside, and eating with other people. And blankets. So, okay, 4 of the world's best things. In 2000, the people of France decided they liked picnics so much, they had a 600-mile long picnic that stretched from coast to coast. Now that's a lot of baguettes.
Take a Chance Day
April 23rd, 2012
It's better to regret something you did than something you didn't do. And just because something seems like a bad idea doesn't mean it will lead to bad results. So if you've been holding back, seize the day and do something daring. Wear mismatched socks. Crazy. Try a flavored creamer in your coffee. What! Ask out that cutie you always see on the bus. You're such a rebel. And, frankly, it suits you.
National Pigs In A Blanket Day
April 24th, 2012
What could be cuter than a tiny hot dog wrapped up in a pastry puff? An actual pig wrapped in an actual blanket. Seriously have you ever seen a pigpen sleepover party?
Plumber's Day
April 25th, 2012
Anyone who's ever tried to repair a toilet on their own knows the value of a good plumber. As in, a plumber costs less than replacing a water damaged bathroom floor, buying a new pair of shoes, and springing for the family to spend the weekend in a motel.
