He also added, and this point is sadly also true, the conservative movement is dead and buried in this country. The nation has shifted so far left, that what is considered "conservative" is middle of the road, and even left of center on some issues. Trump is a 1960's type Democrat. Has the support of the working class and the labor unions!
I can't say that my old friend is wrong about this.
True. That's how we got Trump. Small government conservatives don't feel like they have a voice in this country anymore. The Republican politicians are pretty much Democrats and the Democrats are Marxists. I don't get the enthusiasm for our Democrat candidate though. He's supposed to buck the system of the long line of Democrat-Republicans? I just don't get it.
If (when) Hillary wins, the Republicans will be forced to move even further left because the illegals will be given voting rights. Conservatism won't win again until we are overcome with debt and collapse.
Re: 2016 Presidential Campaign
Republicans won't win until they stop being hostile to those they need to vote for them.

Republicans should always uphold immigration law, and it's a lie to say that is hostility.

They can do this without calling Mexicans criminals and rapists (although I hope they continue the hostility against Hispanics, women, the disabled, and other groups).

That's one guy... who is likely a Democrat running as a Republican. There is no hostility towards Mexicans from the Republican party. That's spin/lies/manipulation from your party.

Sorry, but WRONG!
Re: 2016 Presidential Campaign
It's not non-existent, but it's also not prevalent.
Without doubt, Republicans and conservatives have core problems that too many refuse to face. That is why Republicans and conservatives are losing ground across the board.
Re: 2016 Presidential Campaign
I had to Bing hostility towards Mexicans and Wikipedia said it's predominantly black folks who are hostile to Mexican Americans. No mention of the Republican party. No articles of hostility by the Republican party. When I Binged Hostility Mexicans Republicans, it was all about illegal immigration... and predominately left wing media sites.

I'll let you decide for yourself why Republicans do poorly among African-Americans, Latino, and Asian voters. I don't really care if Republicans do not wish to fix the problem. :D

I think it's because Republicans are for small government and these groups are for big government. The only way to attract them is to offer them more than the Democrats, which would make Republicans Democrats. They trust government and think government is good and government looks out for them. Republicanism is about getting out of ones life. That's not what they want.

Hispanics tend to follow pretty conservative ideas, both fiscally and socially. They should be a perfect fit for the GOP. But we've got to work to become more inclusive. Without expanding the GOP voter base, the party dies from demographic shifts. There are some sensible immigration reform plans (that don't include direct amnesty) that we need to look into. Seasonal worker permits, legal status (NOT citizenship) after paying fines and taxes, etc.

Democrats won't support that. Path to citizenship or nothing. (this is all about more votes to them)

You are assuming that Republicans will continue to be hostile to Hispanics.

That would be hilarious if the Democrats forced citizenship and therefore never won an election again.

Somebody let Trump start tweeting again and it is a train wreck!
