No Dirty Dishes Day
May 18th, 2012
Keeping your day free from dishes shouldn't be too difficult. You could use paper plates and plastic utensils, for instance. Or, I guess, that wouldn't be environmentally friendly. Maybe use your hands and eat right out of the pans on the stove, or straight from containers while standing around in the kitchen? Gee, that actually seems really messy. Okay, here's an idea, just wash your dishes right away when your done using them so they aren't sitting around in the sink or dishwasher. Phew, that makes more sense. Can't believe that's the third solution we thought of.
Visit Your Relatives Day
May 18th, 2012
You're a mover and a shaker, living life in the fast lane, et cetera, et cetera. But when was the last time you took a few hours to visit your Aunt Helen? She's always so happy to show off her tomato plants and give you some coffee and donuts. Balance out that busy life of yours by remembering to keep your family in the mix.
Boys & Girls Club Day
May 19th, 2012
This holiday celebrates Boys & Girls Clubs of America, an organization that aims to "enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens." The first Boys' Club was started in 1860, and since then has grown to employ 50,000 people. Denzel Washington, who was once a club member, is now the organization's spokesperson. So if you care about kids, or Denzel Washington, take today to find out how you can support your local Boys & Girls Club.
National Devil's Food Cake Day
May 19th, 2012
Its name is evil but its taste is heavenly. Devil's food cake is simply a variety of chocolate cake that uses cocoa, instead of chocolate, and adds a little kick of coffee to shake things up. See? Nothing to be afraid of.
I love my new LA Tech license plate. Now I know what has been missing in my life.
Be a Millionaire Day
May 20th, 2012
Oh yeah sure. We'll just go ahead and be millionaires today. Poof! We're all millionaires. Boy was that easy or what? Now let's spend our day lounging by the imaginary pool, snacking on phantom lobsters, and driving our invisible luxury cars. Enjoy it while it lasts because tomorrow we've gotta give it all back.
Pick Strawberries Day
May 20th, 2012
Strawberry season is just getting started so it's time to stock up on your favorite shortcake topper and smoothie ingredient. Slather on some sun block, gather the kids, and head to the strawberry fields to pick a few baskets and enjoy the fruits of your labor all summer long.
National Memo Day
May 21st, 2012
Got something to say? Put it in a memo. It will make your message seem important and official. Besides, saying, 'Looks like someone didn't get the memo' just has a better ring to it than, 'Looks like someone didn't get the scrap of paper I taped to the copier.'
National Waitresses/Waiters Day
May 21st, 2012
All too often we only notice our server when something goes wrong. But today is all about recognizing the ones that get it right. They anticipate you're going to order your fourth iced tea. They bring you a stack of napkins when you've ordered a rack of ribs. They remember you wanted the sandwich without the bread, the cheeseburger without the cheese and the Caesar salad without the Caesar. And unlike most other people who you can only thank with words and a smile, your gratitude for their hard work can actually be expressed in cold hard cash. So show them some love or maybe next time they'll forget all about your peanut allergy.
The Duck Dynasty guys were just at a Country Club catching frogs in a pond on the golf course, I don't think it was Squire Creek, but I'm not sure.
I would not be surprised if those frogs were brought in just for that episode. The more I learn about this show the more I come to find it is the opposite of reality. They never bought a vineyard as depicted in a recent episode. The Polaris 4-wheelers they recently bought while on a road trip to Shreveport were actually given to them by Polaris and the deal went down at a Polaris dealership in Ruston. They never went to Shreveport.
