National Buy-A-Musical-Instrument Day
May 22nd, 2012
Playing the instrument's the hard part, but you don't need to worry about that today. Get yourself a guitar, tympanis, a didgeridoo, or whatever else you've always wanted. Then store it the corner somewhere and wait for Play A Musical Instrument That's Been Taking Up Space In Your Family Room Day. We think that might be sometime in October.

National Vanilla Pudding Day
May 22nd, 2012
Die-hard vanilla fans take issue with the use of vanilla as an adjective to describe dull or ordinary. Vanilla is the second most expensive spice to procure because of the extensive labor. And wars were fought over the plants in fifteenth century Mexico. Take that, chocolate! Today, show off your sophisticated palette with a cup of vanilla pudding.

Lucky Penny Day
May 23rd, 2012
Economists have yet to calculate the exchange rate of a lucky penny to an ordinary one, but we'd venture to say they are priceless. What makes a penny 'lucky' is completely determined by its owner. Perhaps it was sitting in your car's center console that time you narrowly escaped a car accident. Perhaps you picked it off the sidewalk just seconds before you met your true love. Maybe you just like how shiny it is. No matter the reason, remember to bring your lucky penny with you today and see what kind of good fortune comes your way.

World Turtle Day
May 23rd, 2012
In the fable The Tortoise And The Hare we learned that slow and steady wins the race. And that's been the turtles' motto since the first ones appeared on earth 200 million years ago. Maybe it's because of the turtle's easy-going attitude that some species live to be more than 100 years old. Or maybe it's because they eat so much salad. Whatever their secret, the fact remains that many turtle species are endangered, and need our help to make sure they get to enjoy those long lives of theirs. So see what you can do in the name of turtles today!

International Geek Pride Day
May 25th, 2012
Geeks might feel like they don't quite fit in, but talk to Steve Jobs and he'll tell you geeks rule the world. And since 2006, they rule Geek Pride Day as well. Celebrated annually on May 25, the date of the first Star Wars premiere, geeks gather to celebrate the movie that rocked their world, as well any other 'geeky' interests they have, like comic books, video games, and the science fiction genre. Little do geeks know, we all love that stuff.

Sorry I missed yesterday

National Tap Dance Day
May 25th, 2012
It's a pity so many of us quit tap dancing class after the third grade. Think of how much cooler nightclubs and wedding receptions would be if we all tapped our way around the dance floor. National Tap Dance Day is a chance to celebrate this dance style, and it's held on the birthday of one of America's best-known tap dancers, Bill 'Bojangles' Robinson. So everyone break out your tappers, or glue some quarters to the bottom of your sneakers, and let's get our groove on. And 5'6'5,6,7,8!

National Wine Day
May 25th, 2012
At last, a good reason to crack open a bottle of wine. Just kidding -- we never need a reason. Ha ha. Ha. Ah-hem. Anyway. Wine is an important part of culture and cuisine in many countries around the world. And it has been for some time. In fact, the oldest bottle of wine ever discovered is from the Roman Empire and dates back to 325 AD. We've heard 325 AD was a good vintage.

National Blueberry Cheesecake Day
May 26th, 2012
Some say cheesecake isn't good for you, but don't believe the hype. Cheesecake started out as a food for athletes during the 776 Olympic games. That's right. Athletes. And blueberries, well everyone knows those are loaded with antioxidants and those are good for you' whatever they are. So if you think about it, blueberry cheesecake could be the world's healthiest food. Do your body good and have some today.

Sally Ride Day
May 26th, 2012
This holiday honors, of course, Sally Ride, who was the first woman ever to go into space way back in' oh' 1983. That was pretty recent. Looks like guys were hogging all the seats on the shuttle until then. Well, you go girl.

Classy insult number 25 -
(Member of Parliment to Disraeli) "Sir, you will die either on the gallows or of some unspeakable disease!"
"That depends, Sir" replied Disraeli, "whether I embrace your policies or your wife."
