National Grape Popsicle Day
May 27th, 2012
What do you get when you leave a cup of soda pop, with a stirrer in it, out in the backyard on a cold night? Well, as 11-year-old Frank Epperson discovered in 1905 -- you get a Popsicle. He waited 18 years before turning his accidental invention into a patented idea; perhaps he spent all that time thinking of a clever name. With hot summer weather in our near future, today's a good day to celebrate his creation. We don't know why grape popsicles get special recognition, so we say all flavors are fair game.

Sunscreen Day
May 27th, 2012
Oh sure, getting a tan seems like a great idea, but is it worth the risk? Even if the possibility of skin cancer isn't enough to scare you off, how do you feel about wrinkles? That's right, wrinkles. Think about that next time you slather on the tanning oil and roast your rump in the afternoon sun. Wearing sunscreen will not only prevent painful, not to mention embarrassing, sunburns, it will also ward off cancer, sunspots, and premature aging. So make sure it finds its way into your beach bag today, and all summer long.

National Hamburger Day
May 28th, 2012
You probably already know that the hamburger isn't made of ham and that it actually gets its name from Hamburg, Germany, where it was created. Of course, it didn't become the hamburger we all know and love until Americans started serving it on a bun. (Eating burgers with a knife and fork? Pa-lease!) Next came the cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, grilled onions, hot peppers, mushrooms and barbecue sauce. Or, y'know, however you like to dress yours up.

Memorial Day
May 28th, 2012
While you're enjoying your day off from work with a backyard bbq or a day at the beach, don't forget to take a moment and remember what Memorial Day is all about. Celebrated since the end of the Civil War, this holiday commemorates and honors all of the men and women who gave their lives defending our country and our freedom.

End Of The Middle Ages Day
May 29th, 2012
You may have heard the expression, 'Rome wasn't built in a day,' but that's all the time it took for the Middle Ages to come to a screeching halt. On May 29, 1453, the Ottomans conquered Constantinople and thus began a revival of classic Greek scholarship and art that would come to be known as the Renaissance. Of course, things didn't literally change in 1 day. After all, this was a time before text messages and status updates so it probably took a while for word to get around that the Middle Ages was 'like so totally over.' But you get the picture.

Water a Flower Day
May 30th, 2012
There's no big secret to having a 'green thumb.' It's like 90% remembering to water the plants. But we don't mean to imply that's an easy task. Plants so often get neglected until one day you notice you've got droopy flowers and browning leaves. Whoops. So today don't just water a flower, water ALL of your flowers. And while you're at it, water your lawn. It's looking a little thirsty.

I Love My Dentist Day
June 2nd, 2012
Sure, who doesn't love their dentist? How many other people give you free floss and mini bottles of mouthwash? Or let you sit down and talk about your day' even if you're doing so with a mouth full of instruments and cotton balls? Celebrate today by proclaiming, 'I love my dentist!' But a word of warning -- be careful how you say it and whom you say it to. Especially if your dentist is a hottie.

National Bubba Day
June 2nd, 2012
It was T. Bubba Bechtol, professional comedian and professional Bubba, who started Bubba Day and The Bubba Club to preserve the Bubba lifestyle. What does this mean? The world may never know. The first rule of Bubba Club is you don't talk about Bubba Club.
