Sums it up very well.

Lately I have more sympathy for this though. Going to cocktail parties and increasing personal wealth is the only legal option for a conservative. Any man actually governing as a conservative can be certain of legal action against him and his own party to disavow him with whatever derisive term is the current bludgeon.
Lots of truth here. The Left is organized to attack Conservatives and can mobilize their operatives quickly.
Rep. Mike Johnson (R) of Louisiana has announced he will seek the House Speakership should Ohio's Jim Jordan fail to garner enough votes. Doesn't matter who throws his/her hat into that ring (which is a 3-ring circus) half the GOP caucus will be against them. The Dems in the House are seeking enough moderate Repubs to work with to grant temporary Speaker Patrick McHenry the authority to conduct the House's business.
I think the GOP is DOA in the 2024 elections, probably for the WH too. Thanks to Matt Gaetz and his small band of morons America is disgusted with the Republicans. Of course, the Dem voters would never vote for an (R) in a nationwide election and now the state races, since they affect the nation, are up for grabs too. Moderate Republicans, like white suburban moms, will either not vote for the (R) candidate thus handing the tight races to the (D) or maybe even vote for some of the Dems, since some Dems portray themselves as decent people with "conservative" values, never mind that once they reach DC they cannot vote any "conservative" values they might personally hold. That point is always lost on the goofballs who are mad at some (R) and vote for the (D).
Spoke with one of Congressman Mike Johnson's community liaisons last night. They are excited about the prospects of him becoming Speaker. They are rightfully excited, because it would be a great thing for Johnson and for them. But, it ain't gonna happen. The GOP is too stupid to properly take care of business, and a relatively unknown nationally, like Mike Johnson, has less of a chance then Steve Scalise or Jim Jordan. Maybe enough ding-a-lings, 217, will tire of the stupidity and elect Jim Jordan as Speaker.
I've thought about this a lot. If the reasons for those who didn't support Jordan yesterday is a "gotcha" thing they are worse than a RINO. I know at least a couple are against him because they are not really conservative, but I also know several are not supporting him because they got their feelings hurt over either McCarthy or Scalise.
Round 2 is today, at least I hope so. I think Scalise is the best choice for Speaker. No, not because he is a fellow Rummel grad, but because as Majority Whip he has been carrying out the duties of trying to herd the GOP caucus (like trying to herd cats) and get bills to the House floor for votes. And Jordan has his hands full as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and important work to be done there. Doesn't matter what I, or most pragmatic people think, the GOP is its own worse enemy and will again fumble at the goal line. There are some absolutes in this world you can count on: the sun will rise in the east, and the Goofy Old Party will eff things up!
Jesse Waters said this yesterday. Has anyone noticed any difference with the House not having a Speaker? Honestly I don’t see a difference as Congress in general doesn’t get much work done.
20 idiots today who actually identify as "conservative", but not MAGA.
Mike Johnson's candidacy for Speaker is DOA. Already 40 Republicans who say they won't vote for him. But, Mike is a cousin of mine, by marriage, and an overall good fellow. He is having his moment in the limelight, just enjoy it and then move on. He has a lot going for him otherwise.
Made the mistake of reading some of the comments about Johnson on the Yahoo message board; bunch of POS evil democrap types. They are so lost, so hopeless...pathetic.
As for the stupid GOP, they are committing political suicide with this mess. No way they hold the House after the 2024 elections. I hope that POS Matt Gaetz gets voted out, preferably by a true Conservative/pragmatic candidate but anyone will do at this point.
In the big picture, I think we are seeing the destruction of the two-party system, which is good. The democraps are so f***ing evil and anti-American that their support is waning and will continue to. And the GOP is just plain stupid, so voters will not look to that bunch. Third Party candidates will slowly start enjoying more and more success in state and national elections. Already see this at the local level and it will eventually transfer into major elections. Personally, I am registered as "No Party" as are a growing number of folks. BTW, registering as an "independent" is not the same thing, as I learned. Has to be "No Party."
Johnson just got elected Speaker of House..
ETA: I applaud Gaetz for holding McCarthy accountable. McCarthy did not do the things he promised he would do in order to get elected Speaker. When he was pressed by Gaetz, McCarthy told him to go pound sound. Gaetz did just that.
First Speaker of House from Louisiana!!
My...OUR...aunt Facebook messaged me all excited that Mike is Speaker. Aunt Francene is contacting everyone she knows (and that is a lot of folks!). She resides in Texarkana but is proud of her Louisiana roots. Especially today!
Steve Scalise (a Rummel grad :D) is House Majority Leader, so two Pelican staters in charge in the House.
Karl Rove just asked a $million question...will the loon Matt Gaetz give Johnson time to build a coalition, including winning concessions from the Dems, or go all ballistic on him and lead a revolt ousting Johnson too? Might be the shortest speakership in history.
The fact that Bill Kristol has expressed "concern" about the election of Johnson as SOH is all of the confirmation I need that Johnson was a good choice.
His first speech on the floor was solid
Rove didn't say he doesn't like Johnson or he's a bad choice, he wondered aloud if Johnson tries to get something done, which HAS TO INCLUDE some kind of negotiations/agreement with the Dems if Gaetz will pull the stunt he did with McCarthy.
Just in case the GOP hardliners, and their supporters shouting from the rafters, have forgotten, the GOP has a very small margin in the House, and the Dems hold both the Senate and the WH. Yeah, I would love an agenda of conservative measures, but those bills are DOA in the Dem-controlled Senate and/or on Sleepy Joe's desk. The GOP has no choice but to seek compromises and try to get something done for America and Americans. Rove simply asked, will Matt Gaetz go ballistic again?

Not sure what type of Speaker Johnson is going to be, but he's looking good so far based upon these headlines..
Ya gotta love it! Since we all know Johnson won't have any friends in the commie bastard media or on college campuses, etc... and no way to win any, he might as well make all their worst nightmares come true. But, be aware, I guarantee the Swamp is right now cooking up false allegations against him. The DOJ will announce an investigation that when he was a kid 9 yrs old, Mike Johnson ran over a lizard with his bike. And then! never told anyone...cover up, baby!
The Goofy Ole Party (GOP) needs to punt on the abortion issue. Better yet, quick kick! Drop it as a topic, issue. It is clear this nation has lost its soul and wants to murder babies. You can't unconvince people that bent on doing evil...just look at trying to negotiate with mooslim terrorists, doesn't work. Over-turning Roe was the right thing to do. It was awful law! Disgraced the Constitution and the entity designed to protect it, the Supreme Court. We all knew the matter would go to the states, and so it has. Let it go.
The GOP needs only herald the fact all these states, like Ohio last night, are preserving abortion rights. Just say, there, now y'all should be happy, the decision is where it belongs. And say no more about it. Instead focus on the border crisis, runaway inflation and the national debt, not being energy independent (as we were under Trump), the high crime rates across the country. When questioned just respond: you have your abortion rights, but we're here to address real problems; problems caused by Biden and the democraps.
Yes, I expect the GOP to fumble at the goal line again and blow the 2024 election too. It's what they do best. :icon_roll:
The "pro-life" organizations are a huge problem. Their only purpose is to suck up funding and to block actual movement on the issues. Just look at what the ERLC did to stop the trigger law in Louisiana.
Trump was the only politician that I can think of to actually dare to suggest that the woman seeking an abortion actually face punishment for desiring the murder of her child. Maybe pro-life is a "losing" issue, but as long as those organizations fight against the consequences of their actions, they'll deserve to lose.
Many of the pro life organizations want to pass laws criminalizing the act of seeking out and getting an abortion. The solution is not putting women in jail who become convinced there is only 1 solution in their time of need. Many states are pushing that as the “pro-life” movement and they are actually the fringe opinion in the matter. We need to promote organizations that want to partner with these moms and dads to get them the guidance they need to navigate the difficulties in starting a family, planned or not.
It's interesting that we have essentially opposite views of these groups (we don't have to hash that out here). As I understand it, most of the organizations I'm aware of have actively fought against laws that would criminalize conspiracy to commit murder. That, to me, signals a lack of commitment, and I think voters understand that at some level. There is no halfway point to appease the party of death, so why not put your most moral foot forward?
I should have said some organizations. It’s actually not very many, but they do seem to scream the loudest. I have seen fringe groups reach out to churches and pregnancy centers, even locally, trying to get them to sign petitions in favor of criminal prosecution of the mother. You are right that a majority are fighting that effort. Which is good.
On abortion maybe we're addressing different issues, but just to reiterate my position on this. First, I am 100% pro-life. But I also recognize that over 65% (and maybe more) of the American voting population is pro-choice, at least with some restrictions in some cases. It varies, but this nation is effectively some kind of pro-choice...period! Wish it weren't so, but it is. So, moral convictions aside, if you want to win national and most statewide elections you have to at least not be anti-abortion, to some degree. This has already been demonstrated every time the issue has been on a ballot, like in Kansas and Ohio, not exactly lib blue states. And the purple state of Virginia just handed power back to the dems in the state legislature precisely because of the abortion issue. Don't know how many more elections the GOP has to lose before someone hits them in the face with a wet mop...hello!
If you have to compromise what you believe in order to win elections, then you help the country move more left. That being said, I think think we can focus on smaller victories to move the needle our way. Heartbeat bills, etc.
I agree there are far deeper issues surrounding the franchise that need to be addressed before complete abolition will even be thinkable.
On the matter of abortion, the country is already left, very left. This has been readily demonstrated election after election since the over-turning of Roe. Being totally 100% anti-abortion is a losing strategy...period. Even moderate positions, such as limiting abortion at 15 weeks, has been defeated in recent elections. Face it, the human race is an evil animal capable of the very worst behavior toward itself and other animals. I am not making a moral argument because this issue is way beyond that. I am making a strictly pragmatic political argument.
There is only one group who consistently votes against abortion. The identity of this group (and any changes that may have occurred in the franchise, and the consequences of those changes) are left as an exercise to the reader.
https://www.pewresearch.org/religion...n-on-abortion/
https://news.gallup.com/poll/244709/...ic-tables.aspx
This is the core "pragmatic" issue and it extends way beyond abortion. Fix the above issue (an impossible task until the problem causes a total political collapse, which it is/will) and the problems are solved.
I only glanced at the articles, but based on the numbers they support my contention. Not only do 60%+ support abortion but they tend to be very motivated to turn out to vote.
8 azzhole Repubs voted against the impeachment of Mayorkas. I agree this is such low-hanging fruit, should be a slam dunk! Most of the azzholes are from California, the others from NC and Ohio. All dems voted against it, of course, because they never break ranks. And the dems love the open border, so they support the job Mayorkas is doing...or not doing.
Always looking for those slithers of good news...well, I suppose the Republican sweep of the statewide offices(Louisiana) in the election is good news. Yeah, kind of expected, but welcomed, nonetheless.
Locally, in a blue Natchitoches, the dem candidates got smoked! Local elections are rarely, if ever, viewed through a national lens, so the results don't portend some kind of wider trend, but it is nice to see!

Kevin McCarthy resigning effective December 31. Moronic Matt Gaetz is elated. Yeah, with the loss of Santos and now McCarthy the razor thin majority just got narrower. Meanwhile Senator Menendez(D) caught with stolen gold bars in his house is still in the Senate, and only Senator "Frankenstein" Fetterman is calling for his removal. Stupid Republicans even refused to vote for the impeachment of Mayorkas.
The Dems are evil commie bastards, and the GOP are stupid, self-defeating idiots...led by the biggest idiot of them all, Matt Gaetz.
It's not that I don't agree with the anti-RINOs, the true conservatives in Congress, it's that you have to "play the game" to get ANYTHING accomplished. No sense standing on principle when you NEVER get a single item in your agenda passed. And Gaetz and his small group attack fellow GOPers and never do anything about the Dems, such as Eric Stallwell, AOC and the MOB, etc...
Mostly, while RINOs are aggravating, such as our very own Senator Cassidy, they do mostly vote for and support conservative positions, while the libtard Dems NEVER do! Gaetz does not care if McCarthy's seat is taken by a Dem, just that McCarthy is gone. How does that help?
McCarthy made the decision to unite with the left and he got NOTHING in return. NOTHING! That's what happens when you try to get a small part of the conservative agenda passed, but "play the game". Gaetz has a set, McCarthy does not and never did. At this point we are way beyond help thanks to the RINOs and their passion for funneling money to an unwinnable war, while ignoring our own border.
This "story" is probably just that, a story, but supposedly House Republicans hate Matt Gaetz and are considering voting him out of the House, like they did to Santos. Now, the Dems will willfully and joyfully join in that vote of expulsion of Gaetz because they certainly hate him too. This story was leaked from an "undisclosed source" and reported in a libtard online "news" outlet. Probably not true such a move is pending, but there is no doubt Matt Gaetz is the most hated member of the House...by both sides.
I'm no Gaetz fan particularly, but I can't really think of a better endorsement than "hated by both sides of the House."
For all the Trump haters out there, the swamp is determined to team up with the left and other socialist to jump on the Nikki Haley train. You should all be happy.
With the departures of Santos, McCarthy and now Johnson, of Ohio, I think the GOP "majority" is down to a single vote. Great job there Gaetz! Hell, at this rate the GOP won't have to wait til 2024, they'll lose the majority next month!
Gaetz didn't tell McCarthy take his ball and go home.
Gaetz didn't vote to expel Santos from the house either. I am guessing everyone knows the dems already replaced Santos with a democrat, right? And Santos was a reliable CONSERVATIVE vote for those things republicans profess they want to pass. Hmmm.
ON the other hand, numerous dems calling for the destruction of Israel and the genocide of of the Jewish people continue to serve. One democrat that married her brother to circumvent the US immigration laws continues to serve. One democrat who was in a relationship with a known Chinese spy continues to serve. In the senate, one democrat who was given gold bars that were then declared stolen by the person bribing that democrat still serves.
Republicans are useless. Electing someone like Nikki Haley is no better than letting the demented old idiot continue to serve. If she is the nominee, I hope she gets beaten badly for masquerading as a viable option to democrat control. Given DeSantis' relationship with Karl Rove, I won't be voting for him either.
As I watch the wave of disgusting antisemitism flood this country, I can't help but wonder how many of the victims of it took part in the fascism on college campuses where conservatives were not allowed to speak and were physically attacked by mask wearing morons under the banner of antifa. I guess fascism is only wrong when they come after you for your beliefs, but it's all fun and wonderful when you are considered one of the cool kids!
Republicans nominate a democrat to run for Santos' vacated seat in the House. This dem, a woman, will lose to a more popular dem who lost to Santos. Good job!
Derrick Anderson, Green Beret, and a (R) is seeking a congressional seat in Virginia. If you can contribute to his campaign, please help.
https://www.facebook.com/DerrickAndersonforVA/
Simply "wow!" Stupid, RINO Arizona GOP leader tried to bribe Kari Lake into dropping out of Senate race. Glad she's a person of honesty and integrity and had the foresight to record the conversation.
F**k those Republicans who are RINOs and put their own selfish interests ahead of our country. Do NOT ever try to tell me there is no "Deep State" or "The Swamp." They keep showing their sorry-ass motives enough for even skeptics to finally see who they are.
I support Kari Lake for Senate-Arizona.
GOP loses Santos' seat. Yes sir! another WTF loss by the Repubs. I think this is just to fill the duration of Santos' term and the seat will be up for election again in November. Still, another SNAFU.
And get this, the dem won on the issue of "the southern border crisis." Can't fix stupid and NY voters are as stupid as they come.
At this point, if you believe a democrat will ever vote for anything that actually helps at our borders, you don’t need to be voting.
Repub congressmen are "retiring" in droves. I say "retiring" in quotes because I'm not sure they are doing that, or just being rats deserting the sinking ship. Wouldn't surprise me to see the GOP lose the House this fall. No way they should, but the inept RNC and the GOP in general are so stupid it boggles the mind.
There's a YouTuber named "Red Eagle" who tracks and tries to predict election cycles, trends, etc...he is wrong 100% of the time in his overall analysis and predictions. He's always WAY too optimistic and he also makes the mistake of applying common sense to the political process. Nope, can't do that. Right now he is predicting a GOP sweep in November, keeping the House and liberating the WH and the Senate. I hope he's right, but frankly, I just don't see it happening. And most of all HE SHOULD BE RIGHT! The dems are wrecking this country and one would think voters are ready for a real change. But, that's where the analysis goes off the track...if you "think" it should happen. That requires a brain and at least half the voters lack one.
GOP Rep Mike Gallagher has resigned. Damn, where does the GOP find so many stupid people? This nation, indeed the free world is doomed.
Down to a single seat majority in the House. Article in Wash. Post headlined "Dems poised to take control of House" No, not at the November election, now!
Several Republicans are really Democrats, but ZERO Democrats are really Republicans. There's our problem.
We keep giving them more. They keep taking and don't give ANYTHING.
I’m not sure how many today are fiscal conservatives. Republicans( some) have moved to the left. It’s frustrating to see .
Would be awesome for that bimbo Majoree Green to be voted out in favor of an American conservative. Don't want to see the GOP lose the seat, but she has to go.
Yes those MAGA people who don’t like the open check book to your favorite cause are killing the new America
MTG is not my favorite politician but I will say it seems she has the same kind of gut instinctive understanding that Trump does. That instinct won't build anything lasting but it's pretty useful for tearing into gay race communism.
The problem is MTG, and a few others, are making the old "straw man" argument that makes no sense. They say it's an either/or between funding Ukraine's defense efforts and closing the border. No it isn't! That is so STUPID it is beyond ridiculous. I HOPE, I mean I really HOPE I don't have to explain the flaw in that line of thinking.
Get us a real POTUS and the border will be closed, and we can continue to help Ukraine defeat the evil Putin. The money is already there to do both.
MTG just needs to go. Her stupidity sheds a negative light on the GOP and hinders the efforts to win back the WH and both houses of Congress. No, not with conservatives, and no this has no effect on converting dimwitted dems to the right side, but rather on the important independents who are always fence-sitting. The GOP is a laughing-stock and this casts a pall over "the government" being able to carry out its duties. This is what independent voters see and think. Of course, the lefties, who know how to play politics, use MTG's antics as a weapon to convince the fence-sitters the GOP cannot be trusted to conduct the government's business. And my gosh! they have a point.
You'll be disappointed if Trump doesn't keep the spigot open for the Ukraine corruption to continue? I suppose a true "conservative" would just continue to look the other way in the give and take world of the swamp. Government business is the problem, not the solution.
You may have missed the point. I said conservatives are not the issue, but rather the independents who see government shutdowns and delays in passing legislation, etc. as a problem. So morons like MTG who have accomplished nothing except making it harder for the GOP to win back Congress, plays into the hands of the dems who win support from the independents in close elections.
You can’t view the world through your very narrow lens. In fact you come across as if you are speaking to yourself in a mirror. Doesn’t matter how you view MTG, it’s how those independents do.
I didn’t answer your question, yes I am concerned about what Trump will do about Ukraine. I can/will elaborate a little more on this matter as I hear him speak on this more.
We have different views on the responsibility of our leaders. American citizens should come first. We don’t and haven’t in many decades. We are NOT the world’s keeper, but as long as the swamp is allowed to keep skimming off the top of every aid package, American citizens take a back seat. FWIW we need Israel more than Israel needs us. Not even close to the situation in your favorite cause.
For the record I support both Israel and Ukraine, and Taiwan too. I suppose you think it'll be just fine for the Chicoms to invade Taiwan. Let's not get involved in that one either, right?
We need Israel more than they need us? Ummm, you better rethink that one. If the US were to turn our backs on Israel they would cease to exist in less than 24 hours. They need us for their very existence!
As for Ukraine, it's not just about them, but rather thwarting Putin's plans of reestablishing the old Soviet Union. This war could be happening in one of the Baltic countries, or Hungary, or Romania and my position would have been the same: Putin needs to be stopped. My "favorite cause" is justice, it is a moral obligation to fight evil wherever it exists. And in this case, Putin represents a real danger to our interests, to US interests, to "American citizens who should come first" interests. We ARE the world's keeper and we better sure as hell remain that or we will all see problems as "American citizens who should come first" like none of us dare think about. Together with our allies around the world, we MUST be the world's police.
Trump knows that too, which is why I am not going to throw him under the bus on this issue. Trump built back the US military second only to how Reagan built our military (since the end of WWII), and Trump built coalitions with our allies, his Quads, and the world knew peace for 4 years. Trump is no fool, like that silly MTG is, and while he talks about "being friends" with the likes of Putin and Xi, behind the scenes he has made it clear to them they had better behave themselves. So, I suppose you won't support Trump when he does continue to, maybe even ramp up, aid to Ukraine, which I think he will.
This whole STUPID notion that the money (mostly in the form of physical assets: military weapons, equipment, ammo) going to Ukraine leaves the US unable to do other things is ridiculous. First, there is already MORE money allocated to closing the border than is needed to do so. But right now, we have that puppet in the WH who won't enforce the law. Trump will close the border and won't have to ask Congress for a special spending package to do so. Then what will you and that bimbo MTG say?
I agree with anyone, including you, that the Swamp is our single biggest problem. The Federal "govmint" spends WAAAY too much money and has seized too much power. The states need to reassert their 10th Amendment rights and authority. We could both elaborate on examples of this. But for now, I will remain steadfast in the US always occupying the moral high ground and I strongly believe that supporting Ukraine in their fight against pure evil, is where the US needs to stand. Let's be on the right side of history.
We need Israel more than they need us? Ummm, you better rethink that one. If the US were to turn our backs on Israel they would cease to exist in less than 24 hours. They need us for their very existence!
Nah, I'm good with that and history proves me right. The Israel thing is WAY bigger than the other crap the swamp has allowed to go on in the world. You might want to rethink it based on scripture instead of your gut.
Not going to get into the scripture discussion. I don't believe that God's timeline of events matches what we puny mortals think it should be.
I wouldn't want to be standing on the frontline of Israel in the case of US abandonment holding the Old Testament in my hands... give me a bunch of Patriot missile batteries and then I can trust in the good Lord a little better.
Lines from an old song...
"The Lord's our Savior, goes the psalm
but just in case, better give us the bomb."
Okay. So you don't believe the recent past is an indication of God protecting Israel? Brush up on your history since since 1947.
Still doesn't mean that Armageddon is going to occur anytime soon. After you mentioned scripture, I did "brush up" on it. And while one can see some of the pieces coming into place, that still does mean it's going to happen in our earthly lifetimes. No one, but God, knows the day of the Second Coming.
And it's been God protecting Israel through the vehicle of the US! We have been, and are, the conduit of God's protection for Israel. You said "we need Israel more than they need us," and I disagree. And as for my "brush up on your history..." Well, I think I have forgotten more than you will ever know. (that wasn't very nice of me :icon_roll:)
Again, there is no need for this "argument." In today's reality there is evil in the world, and I advocate for standing up to all of it. Unlike others I don't want to pick and choose which portrayers of evil the US should stand against. Evil is evil, wherever it can be found, and the US has a moral obligation to take a stand.
Nobody said anything about the second coming. What I said and has been proven many times is that God is looking out for Israel. Israel does not depend on the US for its survival and won't be dictated to by a bunch of DC swampers/scammers. They don't need us as much as we need them.
I'll bite...why do we need them? For what? And if they don't need us than let's immediately cut them off from ALL military aid, and no more shared intelligence with them either. And, make it clear to Iran, we're done with Israel, have at 'em. Let's see what happens then, eh.
But, first, please tell me why the US "needs" them?
The GOP is so weak that most pundits think IF they take the senate it'll be a 51-49 margin. As much as the democraps have screwed up the country it is remarkable it can (will?) end up this close.
Miller-Meeks retains her House seat for the GOP, Iowa. The recount is finished, and she picked up a few votes. House now sits at 220-214 with one California seat still being counted. It's only been 3 weeks...worse case will be 220-215 GOP. We have the majority, now if the MTGs in the crowd will go-along with the rest of the GOP caucus, not rock the boat, then we can actually enact Trump's agenda and get some things done.
ADVICE: IGNORE THE DEMS AND THE COMMIE LAMESTREAM MEDIA, ALL SURE TO BE SQUAWKING AND COMPLAINING ON EVERY DAMN ISSUE. VOTE TOGETHER!
Way more worried about the Mitch McConnell, Bill Cassidy, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski types in the Senate than MTG. They think THEY have a mandate to determine Trump's cabinet!
Last time I looked, MTG was all in for Trump's agenda. If she is rocking the boat, it's likely off course.
I understand the sentiment, but there is nothing worse than the democraps. Let's say that these four RINOs are often "as bad" as the 'craps.
I will point out, in fairness, that McConnell is the reason Trump has three nominees now on the Supreme Court. Together with the Herculean efforts of Senators Grassley and Graham.
Welp! hate that this is true, but it is.
A guest on CNBC, an expert on "all things Congress" and an economic advisor, just told the truth about the sorry-azz GOP. He says, with 100% certainty, there will be NO additional Trump tax cuts, NONE of those promised by Trump. The absolute best Americans can hope for, and even this is a reach, is an extension of the current Trump tax cuts (passed in 2017 and due to expire in 2025). Why? Well, according to this fellow, the GOP has "those not interested in anything "Trump" and have their own self-interests which don't dovetail with what is good for Americans." The Democrats, he says, are even worse. But if anyone thought that the GOP owning all three parts of the DC government meant anything...sorry.
He pointed out that Speaker Mike Johnson's "farm bill," a simple farm assistance program is DOA because Johnson does not have enough Republican votes to pass it, and the Democrats are staunchly opposed to it. [The Dems hate the farm industry and want the US dependent on food-imports from China and other socialist nations.]
In all matters regarding the budget and the budget fights to come in 2025, this fellow says Johnson will need at least 13 Dems to support his bills or they will fail. And, Johnson will get some or most of those Dem votes, just not the same ones each time. It's going to be a close-run thing on ALL budget items. The GOP will NOT, no way, not going to happen, "march in lockstep in support of the Trump agenda." Trump made this matter even worse by removing three of his supporters from the House, and two from the Senate.
Now, this is all conjecture based on this guy's opinion. But, I fear he is right. One has only to look at history to see how stupid the GOP is.
The GOP and their circular firing squads...stupid. Note how the dems are saying, and they WILL do it, they will stay together, BLOCK VOTE, no holdouts, no departures from the party line. The stupid GOP is fighting among themselves over who should be speaker, over every detail of this latest budget battle. Instead of accepting a victory with better things to come, the GOPpers insist on being stupid. Well...YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!
It's a very real possibility that NO GOPper will be Speaker. Yep, it could easily happen. Unless the morons just get behind Johnson with 100% steadfastness, there is chance not enough GOPpers will be available to vote for Speaker and the dems will elect that kook Hakeem Jeffries. One GOP bimbo Rep. Schwarz is refusing to caucus with the GOP and Texas Congresswoman Granger is reported to be senile and has been committed to a senior care center in Texas. If just one more GOPper can't be present, for illness or some other reason, the dems will sweep Jeffries into power. I hate it for our nation, but damn would that ever serve the asinine GOPpers right.
The GOP is weak, pathetic, stupid, and REALLY STUPID! (for emphasis).
There is talk of Liz Cheney being charged with contempt of Congress, witness-tampering, and other felonies in connection with her role in the J6 hoax. Okay, she deserves it. But, what about the rest of the bogus J6 committee, all democraps. Not a word, not a peep of going after them. Know why? Jim Jordan and Comer and all the rest of the GOPpers are AFRAID to mess with the dems. Chicken shit! They know the dems don't give a rat's ass about Lizzy girl Cheney so there will be no repercussions for going after "one of their own," which is how the Left views Dizzy Lizzy.
In 1976 I turned 18 and registered to vote. Many of you will recall we were all told to register as democraps because of the way Louisiana's primary system was set up. If you wanted to have a voice in Louisiana politics you had better be a registered dem. I never voted for a dem in any statewide/national elections and only voted for a dem when it was a dem vs. dem in a runoff, then I chose the lesser of the two evils. When I decided some years ago to change my registration I changed to No Party because the GOP is simply too stupid and I could not, cannot, bring myself to be associated with a bunch who can't even organize a bar-be-cue.
And the republican party continues to falter.
Mike Johnson blew it when he allowed the Dems to turn a simple CR into a Omnibus dem wish list, and it made sense that the rank and file turned on him and demanded something different.
That said, now we have a few republicans refusing to cast their vote for his speakership (yes, he proved he is flawed, but he is supported by Trump and 99% of the republicans in the house), once again showing they cannot lead from the majority. They can only whine when things don't go their way!
As the dims continue to incrementally move us toward government controlled socialism, censorship and stomping on the rest of bill of rights, the republicans are powerless to fight back because so many cannot see the forest for the trees.
I can't believe Trump wanted to work with these morons again.
Edited to add....nevermind. Maybe this is a sign the republicans can actually get something done this go around.
Johnson reelected as Speaker, officially on the first ballot as the nays changed their votes to yays. Good, now let's get on with the business of bringing our country back.
The extremists on the FAR right, yeah. Not that they're not right in the purest philosophical sense re: policies. The entire federal government needs to be "shut down" and every single position in every single department closely examined, many eliminated, and then filled only by true conservatives. Note, I did not say filled by "Republicans." I said and meant TRUE CONSERVATIVES.
BUT!!! that is not reality. And so, the GOP has to play the game and take incremental successes and improvements. This is what the "MAGA extremists" don't seem to understand.
Just like the abortion argument. Abolition is not a good tactic. Incrementalism is the best way.
Cassidy is suddenly on Trump's team. What a fake! I've noticed the Louisiana news feed (whoever that is) is running about three stories a week on his recent "conservative legislation". He'll be lucky to make it into the run off after jungle primary he was so adamant about keeping in place.
McConnell is likely the most corrupt member in place Dem or Republican.
Collins is far from a conservative, but at least she votes as her constituents would have her vote. She defines RINO.
Murkowski should be sent home by her conservative constituents. She and Cassidy are woven from the same cloth.
democraps "FORCE" a vote in the Senate on Trump's tariffs. How can the party in the minority "force" anything? Oh, that's right, it's the Goofy Ole Party holding the majority. Same party that couldn't organize a bar-b-cue.
Yes, it is true. But it's aimed at only the tariffs meant for Canada. Trump is urging Senate Republicans to use their majority to pass a measure to keep the vote from even happening.
From an article:
Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., is once again using expedited procedures to force a vote on whether or not to terminate a national emergency declaration. This time, it is the declared emergency that Trump used to put 25 percent tariffs on many Canadian imports, with some exceptions.
