So now we can switch to a new Tech QB and get him ready for the portal.
Tonight was the first game I’ve been to in a long time. Gonna be a lot longer before I go back to another one.
Guys, we absolutely made the wrong hire. Crummy is absolutely clueless and years away from being ready to be a HC. Unfortunately for us, we are stuck with him for the duration of his contract.
Well, we *might* neat Sam Houston and maybe Jacksonville State. I don't see many more wins on the schedule. Gonna be fun when we're the dregs of out bottom-feeder conference.
Going for 2 on that first TD of the second half was stupid.
Not kicking a Field Goal at the UNT 24 in a 23-14 game was a stupid decision.
We were too aggressive when we did not need to be.
He has no idea how to manage a game. He definitely has no idea how to manage an offense. Gonna be a long, long however many years he’s got left on his contract.
Sure looked like the coach and the team prefer Turner.
Game day experience? I love to watch the 'Dawgs but we've completely eliminated any effort at creating a game day experience beyond the play on the field. Have you noticed all the little things we don't have any more--no smoke or pyrotechnics when the team takes the field, no fireworks when the team scores, the band gets less and less playing time during the game with the awful DJ, fewer and fewer concession options. Do those things win games? No, but people want to be entertained, they want the pageantry that goes with the play on the field and we have completely eliminated that.Quote:

I don't get to make it to too many games but I brought my entire family today. Eight of us. We went to the UMass game a few years ago and the game experience from then until now is night and day. My kids had a blast at the UMass game and the game today was just not as fun and the outcome had very little to do with it.
We have GOT to fix the MC/DJ vs. Band issue. It is a real problem. The sound system is also TERRIBLE.
It has been nice to be in and around Ruston this weekend. Ruston - the town - has made so many strides since I was in college and the game experience is still better than when I was in school but it has taken a BIG step back from where it was a few years ago. Those things matter ... they just do.
This should be an easy fix and DONE before the next home game. No one expects a bunch of money to be spent on a video board that's going away, but turn the volume down and rely more on the Band of Pride for our music. The number of times the DJ and the band are playing simultaneously is ridiculous.Quote:

They have successfully turned the entire fanbase into a group that, I imagine, won’t feel the least bit compelled to stay to the end anymore. How many can say honestly that Tech football is THE THING you do on Saturday? I can only say it’s the thing I do when I can’t find a fun thing to do elsewhere. We bring friends, hang out as a family, and basically do what we could do at home while watching literally any game from our couch.
Call me a fair weather fan I don’t care. I now prefer to watch Colorado and the success they are having with Deon Sanders as coach. Truly amazing what a difference a year makes in Boulder. Happy for the Buffs. Wish we could do something like this.
I am waiting for the fall. Neon is living on borrowed time. The home-cooking refs bailed him out last night, and they have yet to play a really good team. That changes next week at Oregon.Quote:

He’s about as bad a speaker as he is a coach. He said we competed and that he’d made some coaching mistakes… you think? He’s made at least a few serious coaching mistakes in every game. Generally speaking based on his lacking communication skills and his uninspiring exuberance it’s no wonder Tech has such poor starts to their games. He’s a dud and a dull one at that. It’s sad but true. I sure wish he’d snap out of it because we need some success but it’s feeling very doubtful.

My original prediction for this year was a slow start with a lot better finish to the year. Had hoped for 7 wins. I believe 4 wins is the ceiling for this team. I saw nothing yesterday from Crummy that gives me any hope that this is going to get any better.
At the time I thought we should go for it. It was the beginning of the 4th quarter (or end of 3rd) and would put us down 8. It’s a 2 score game if we kick it or if we miss, so why not try to make it a one score game. Not going for the 42 yard FG on the 1st series of the second half hurt us most. I think you will have a better passing offense with Turner (but also probably more interceptions). I would let him start vs Nebraska this week to see what he could do because you have the built in excuse that Bachmier is recovering and it’s basically a money game anyway.

It's obvious that this Tech football team has an immature head coach who is simply not ready for prime time. His self proclaimed "skateboarder" mentality doesn't seem to mix well with the discipline required to be a good football coach. He certainly hasn't learned how to prepare his teams to play a first half yet.
BTW, this team played much better after Hank Bachmeier left the game. If you don't believe me, just look at the stats.
