I'd like to think that these young athletes will give back to LA Tech financially for the rest of their lives, and from the goodness of their heart, not just because they signed a big jackpot contract right out of college. I would encourage these young athletes to stabilize themselves first financially. Let's not forget, professional sports careers can often be very short. With many of these guys, that money needs to last a long time. Just ask Ryan Moats.
TAXES-agents-dual residency- wives -fast lifestyle and ignoring reputable advisors instead of using "fast money" advisors , usually lead to early financial disaster. The ones who stay close to their roots do fine ( think Jake D )

If they get involved with handling the money, pet projects get financed with high commissions. Most are broke by age 30, if they last that long. I wish I could give specific examples but obvious privacy issues prevent that--
As I remember it, the NFPLA governed what % agents could take and it was generally only on amounts above the minimum, amounts that were guaranteed or earned. Is it still that way?

Not a surprise, but Patton was not one of the 23 players invited to attend the draft.

I heard there was a #1 pick at QB a few years ago that can't even afford to buy cough syrup now. He's even thinking about making a comeback if he can find a sucker to give him another multi-million contract.

The one thing I'm thankful for as more mock drafts roll out is that actual NFL recruiters analyze talent and not where you played.

The draft has Mills and QP in the 3rd round and Myles White in the 7th.
Re: New Mock Draft Has Patton in 1st Round
The reason they are called MOCK drafts is that you get to mock how wrong they are compared to the real thing.
Re: New Mock Draft Has Patton in 1st Round
I still think Patton was the best WR on the list.
