That dumb QB named Bradshaw also called all his own plays.

Bradshaw's accomplishments get him in the conversation not his career stats.

He was the prototype that is still being used... 46 years later.

I agree.
I prefer to say "among the best". There have been too many rule changes and changes in the way the game is played to make definitive comparisons in abilities and achievements.

Today's "greats" have been coddled since high school.
Most everything has changed in relation to how the news is released and how the knee jerk rule changes of life are the norm.
Tom Brady's toughness vs. Terry Bradshaw's toughness? This is why the NFL is no fun to watch and the "do gooders" are now trying to make college less fun to watch.
Re: Best QBs in this NFL Draft will be Memphis Paxton Lynch and Jeff Driskel
Bradshaw was the best ever at throwing deep. The only way you can grade QBs is by their record and 4-0 in superbowls is as good as it gets. You can't compare statistics, because, modern day QBs like Peyton Manning throw nothing but those little short passes. None of the QBs today call their own plays like Bradshaw did.

He had a great deep ball when he had the receivers who could get open.
He called or adjusted almost every play from scrimmage.

Bradshaw reminds me a lot of Favre. They both had cannons and were tough football players. Favre was able to withstand the punishment better than Terry... he got kind of banged up there at the end. But he could have put up Favre numbers in the same system and if injury-free.

To add to the thread, the biggest knock on Lynch is maturity and he basically quit on his team the last few games of the season and their bowl game. Jeff Driskel is head and shoulders above Lynch except with less arm strength.

I agree with you on this. My biggest concern about Lynch was, and is, his attitude. He's got great upside, but IMO, he'll need to settle down in that area between his ears to realize his potential.

So...if winning Super Bowls is the measure of a great NFL QB. Then here's my list, best ever:
1. Trent Dilfer
2. Jim Plunket
3. Doug Williams
And lousy QBs because they never won a SB:
Dan Marino
Fran Tarkenton
Jim Kelly
Dan Fouts
Next!

Those listed as 1-3 only won one super bowl. TB won four and as noted above two super bowl MVPs.
While I don't rate your other four as lousy they just weren't great. Their are lots of NFL QBs who never won a super bowl. Some were pretty good. In other eras, before the super bowl we could list Sammy Baugh (someone did), Johnny Lujack, Y.A.Tittle, etc.
Re: Best QBs in this NFL Draft will be Memphis Paxton Lynch and Jeff Driskel
After throwing the ball out of bounds to stop the clock on 4th down...
Coach: Doug it was 4th down.
Doug: Say what?

It's all about winning in the NFL, especially if you're the leader of the team. The NFL don't give out trophies for participation.
