Yes, much lower than I thought.

This is what you hope for every year. A mid-November (and later) meaningful game. And, to boot, it's a frickin' home game. Yeah, I know, the last time we had this situation we committed 7 turnovers....But! here we are again, a year later. Half, or more than half, of CUSA is eliminated from winning a conference championship. Realistically, the count is down to a handful of teams.
Be there!
. Agree 100%'. All these "trap games" -and now we playing decent teams for division title. I am fired up and looking for 4 wins. ( CUSA title game)

. Hope we get the NT refs! they knew cheap shots when they saw them

One afterthought from NT game was how disciplined Holtz has our Dogs-- at one point NT had 8 penalties and we had zero. Think it ended 10-1. Gotta love the discipline ( please don't let this be one of those praise something and reverse happens things)
Re: 11/12: UTSA game (HOMECOMING)
Here's a few UTSA stats:
vs CUSA teams only...
Offense
Passing per game: 16-27, 207 yards, 2 TDs
Rushing per game: 40 carries, 175 yards (4.3 avg), 2 TDs
Turnovers: 1.2 per game
Rank: #6
Defense
Pass defense per game: 19-33, 237 yards, 1.8 Tds
Rush defense per game: 39 carries, 169 yards, 1.6 Tds
Turnovers: 1.9 per game
Rank: #2
Nothing really jumps out at me. They look "solid" on both sides and don't make many mistakes.
They can play well:
- Lead Arizona St most of the game, before losing 32-28 at the end, at home.
- Beat USM by 23 at home
- Beat MT by 20 on the road
And they can play bad:
- Beat Rice by 1 at Rice
- Lost to UTEP in 5 OTs at home
- Beat Alabama State by 13 at home
Other games:
- Lost at Colorado St (23-14)
- Lost at ODU by 14 (33-19)
- Beat North Texas (31-17)
This looks similar to the North Texas game to me, except they beat UNT by 2 TDs, but at home. I think they will try to limit our possessions with ball control and keep the score low (like UTEP did). No idea how they'll try to stop our offense. I would think if they want a low score they will do what North Texas did and force us to run the ball a bunch.

Coker was at Miami after Johnson.

Ok. Thanks. He carried on the Johnson tradition then. I checked and there were several between Johnson and him.
Re: 11/12: UTSA game (HOMECOMING)
Super interesting game. UTSA should be respected as a physical team that can take it to anyone. Too bad we are better

I watched both of their last 2 games against UNT and MTSU. They ran the ball very well. Their Oline block well and their Rbs are elusive enought to get 6+ yards out of their runs.
They controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish in both games.
Their Qb is a non factor on passing game - not accurate on medium to long throw.
They haven't had to rely on him at all due to their running game.
If we can stop their running game, our D will probably score as much as our O.

Just one problem....Jimmy Johnson was at Miami (1984-88) long before Larry Coker was (1996-2000 as OC, and 2001-2006 as HC).

Sounds like this will be one of those UTEP-type games that almost put me to sleep a few weeks ago. Other than the Arkansas game, it was Tech's lowest offensive output of the year (28 points). LA Tech only ran 50 plays in that UTEP game vs a season long average of 70 per game. Then again, I think our team has matured a lot since we beat UTEP 28-7. So hopefully Tech can dictate the pace of this game better than we did against UTEP.
The good news is UTSA has Frank Scelfo for an OC, and WE ALL KNOW from personal experience that this is not a good thing for UTSA. I'm not trying to be critical, just factual. It's a fact. Scelfo is not a guy that likes wide open, down field football. He's not going to surprise anyone offensively. In fact, he's just the opposite. He'll come straight at us. Scelfo will try to control the clock with a ground game that will include a lot of mano on mano in the trenches. Look for this game to be "chippy" and "thuggy" from the start.

The problem is we seem willing to allow the short passes. If they can keep our LBs honest with some RB and WR screens and that delayed draw that Scelfo loves, they can move the ball on us.

Yes, very excellent videos. Only one complaint, need more cow bells...um, no, wait....need more Nitz and Allen !!! Not the generic anon announcers.
