I like Holtz, but the facts are in close games Holtz style doesn't win. That hasn't changed whether he has a "young injured" team or a 5 star at QB and two NFL WR's. We've had 5 years worth of data here at Tech and that's what the evidence shows. In saying that, I hope he's so successful at Tech that they build a bronze statue of him in front of the Joe. If he's gonna get that statue built, he's going to have to flip his win/loss record in close games.
Well we are a 6 FG favorite over arguably the worst winless team in FBS today. So we have that going for us.
Worst FBS record in 2017
UTEP 0-10
GA Southern 0-9
San Jose St 1-10
The most important thing for today is to compete. Even if we lose I hope we compete.
Since UTEP fired their coach they are 0-5 and have been averaging 8 points per game. If we can jump on them early with 3 quick FGs then we can slow down the offense and kick a late FG at the end if needed to win it.
Some might call this running up the score, but I don't care. We have a nation leading single season FG attempts record at stake.
I am sensing sarcasm. I could be wrong though..........
The sad part is, does anyone really have confidence we will win? We should kill them, but..... If we don't beat them badly, we will be able to have our pick of the seats next week- there will not be $5k there.
Even if we over compete today and win by 7 pts or more we won't have 12K in the stands next week. We thought the east side crowd was bad for FAU. Next week will truly show what our AD and other administrators have done to kill our student attendance.Quote:

Not the first time you have accused me of being a confused and wayward fan or something similar, which I may be, but my point was I don't think Tech will ever have a coach who will meet the standards that some of you guys set. We haven't had one in the fifteen years I've been on the board, and I suspect we never will. What is funny to me is that their is nothing unique about our board in that regard. When Alabama starts losing, which they will eventually, their fans will be making the same comments.
