Correct. The list put together by the Commercial Appeal was just hours after Tom Bowen was fired. It was just speculation on the part of that writer, as well.
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
He's been seeking another job since he left Lk Ck...in fairness to Tommy:icon_roll:
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
T-Mac's greatest achievement seems to be that he is young. It's the only accomplishment they ever list for him in these articles.
In most businesses, youth is a problem. You want people with good, solid experience, and that typically takes many years to build. But for some absurd reason, college athletic programs seem to think youth is a good thing. Never mind the colossal mistakes these "young people" often make due to inexperience (e.g., the Tyler Summit hire, etc...)

I agree with everything you said except the implication that he has not accomplished anything. He and LG finished some longtime projects (tac video board, DAC) and another big one (press box). That's not to say others couldnt have done the same thing, but I think he gets some credit. His coach picking ability definitely seems suspect.
Our next AD needs to be somebody with some ties to the university, some know-how and an ability to baby sit the young asst AD types. The biggest problem with these young dudes is they don't have an interest in Louisiana Tech in ten years. I'm just not sure they get sick to their stomach like die hards after a disappointing end to a season so long as the team won enough games to look attractive on the ADs resume.
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I'm not sure I care that much if they have ties to Tech. I want the best guy for the job. Maybe they're a Tech guy, maybe not. Just need to be professional and willing to fight for us.
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
I want a guy who can go in a room and come out with a deal that favors Tech instead of making sure the others get well healed from any agreement we make on who we play and when. Learn to walk away when someone offers us 80% of what others are making for body bag games. Don’t schedule ANY SEC opponent in a sport other than football without a 1 for one deal in place. Make sure all games at P5’s have neutral refs or CUSA refs. Play hard ball and shoot for the moon and be prepared to walk away.
Re: McClelland to Ole Miss?
You only need someone not looking for his next job and to make friends that may can help advance his career!

Exactly. He can spin the crappiest of things into a resume builder for him.

Marty Cordaro. President and General Manager of the Omaha Storm Chasers, the Triple-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, in Omaha, NB. Marty is a Ruston native and LA Tech grad.
Cordaro moved to Omaha in 2007, joining the organization as assistant general manager before being promoted to the general manager role the next year. Cordaro was honored as the inaugural recipient of the Omaha Sports Hall of Fame Community Service Award in 2015,[4] was named the Sarpy County Chamber of Commerce Business Leader of the Year in 2014[5] and Baseball America Minor League Executive of the Year in 2013.[6]
This is the next guy in line for LA Tech. Marty knows contracts well, because he deals with 'em every day. He's a leader, an expert at marketing, and he loves LA Tech. And after a very productive decade as a Triple-A minor league baseball executive, he would be a great pick. Assuming we can still afford him now.

Speaking of contracts, we have a few that will be ending. I doubt Tommy will be gone anytime soon. I don't feel very confident in his negotiation skills.

Seriously think he would be the best person we could get. Hope it can happen when the time comes.

Searching on the internet, I can't find an article giving details behind the Learfield contract.
