Yes, our stunningly clean program would certainly take a dive.

I think Skip only gets a look if they are turned down by everybody else on their list (Sark and Leach being the top two currently). And, I'm not nearly as down on Skip as most here. Frankly, I don't know why anybody would take that job right now. Ole Miss and Miss St. are two of the worst jobs in the SEC currently (I even think Arkansas is better).
Re: New Football Head Coach
Joe Moorhead had 2.6 and 2.7 Million reasons to coach there. I'd go to a couple of years. Ya know... take one for the team.

Yet Mike Leach left a cushy job at Wash State to take the Moo State job...

He would've been a better fit at Arkansas. Good pay day before retirement I guess. Low risk and high reward. If he can win there, in the SEC, he'll name his next job...if he wants one.

The Mike Leach system works better in an under-resourced school, where the expectations are fairly low (e.g., MSU, TT or Wash St vs an Alabama, Texas or LSU, etc...) but the opportunity for rewards are fairly high (e.g., playing in the SEC). Miss St is a perfect fit for the Mike Leach system. Leach is the ugly uncle that burps and farts at the Thanksgiving table, but leaves in his late model Mercedes. Leach can win 7 to 9 games (or more if he gets rolling) annually at a place like Miss St or do the exact same thing at Alabama or Ohio St. The point is, he wouldn't do any better --or win any more games-- at a Top 10 school than he will do at Miss St. The difference is, winning 8 games at Miss St is appreciated, but it will get you fired at Alabama.

NWA is definitely a better place to live than Starkville.

The question is whether MSU expectations match MSU reality.

I agree.
