Re: Tech Drive Chevron/Citgo
This gives me a third reason to never buy anything from this Citgo.
1) When I was at Tech, Dawgbitten and I worked for the family that owned the Chevron across the street. They are good people and I stop there whenever I'm in town.
2) Hugo Chavez owns Citgo.
3) The fact that they don't support their local university.
When I was working at the Chevron, the place only made about 3 cents per gallon on self-serve gas. Most of their money came from full serve or the garage. We never sold any "merchandise" for any university....just an old school service station. So, I would guess that most of the money the Citgo makes comes from stuff inside the store, and if they sell enough of it, then they won't stop. But, if people stop going there for gas, then they also lose the revenue that comes from those people buying cokes and chips while they are filling up their tank.

I heard the same. It's all about Chavez. I've been using the Chevron close to my house exclusively since the change.
Re: Tech Drive Chevron/Citgo
I received an email saying that Citgo was changing its name to Petro Express in order to avoid the boycott. Beware!
Re: Tech Drive Chevron/Citgo
And don't forget the Advanced Auto Parts store on Trenton that has proudly displayed their "We support LSU athletics" sign in the front yard.
This mentality of blind support for lsu is going to continue to keep Louisiana in the dark ages.

Re: Tech Drive Chevron/Citgo
Al Brasuell and his two sons, Keith Brasuell and Scott Brasuell, own the Chevron U-Pak-It on Tech Drive as well as Chevron Oil Change, Pizza Inn, and Blockbuster just to name a few. They also own the land and the building that Starbucks is located on and the land and building that TCBY is located on. They sold the land to Community Trust Bank for their one year old location on Tech Drive.
Their office is located in the house directly across the street from the Chevron, so write them a letter voicing your concerns or stop in and see one of them and tell them directly. I am sure they would be happy to explain their position to you.
By the way, I don't know why they are selling LSU merchandise but they are HUGE Louisiana Tech supporters and good people.
Re: Tech Drive Chevron/Citgo
If the tiggers were 1-4 and we were 5-0, I can't see this as even being an issue.
There would be little demand for lswho stuff.
JOAKES ON US ! ! !

Exactly! It's as if people are scared of LSU. Maybe we should be with their enrollment going up and ours going down.
People in Ruston should want to buy Tech merchandise over LSU merchandise, but the fact is that some people don't. And it's not because stores stock the stuff, it's because the merchandise is in demand. If they don't buy it in Ruston, they'll spend their money in Monroe or Shreveport to buy the same thing.

Fair enough, now, I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANOTHER DAMN COMPLAINT FROM Y'ALL ABOUT WALMART SELLING LSU STUFF OVER TECH STUFF. Some of you same people are the very ones who complained about lsu pics in the applebees. Some have blackballed applebees because they are a "national chain". Well, forgive me for hoping and dreaming that a Locally owned business could make a stand and support only the university 150 yards from its front door. I"m outta my frick'n mind for dreaming or expecting such a thing. Its all so clear now.
They could at least sell crickets.

She expressed her concerns and asked why they would sell those when they were right next to LOUISIANA TECH. She said the worker then thumped his chest with his fist and said "LSU BABYYYYYYYY."
I'll make it a point to never shop there again, starting with the next two Saturdays BABYYYYYYYYY!

Oh, I support your stand re the Tech Drive Shitgo/Chevron. I do the same thing; e.g., when I'm in Ruston, I eat at Dowlings. Tech atmosphere, only ..... (not to mention the GREAT food). As for the Tech Drive Shitgo/Chevron, I totally quit buying Shitgo gasoline long ago because of Hugo. This is despite the fact that my family were wholesalers and retailers of Shitgo petroleum products for more than 75 years (pre Hugo).
GO, DAWGS ! ! !
