Joe Biden committed tax evasion (2007-08) and should go to federal prison for it.
Of course if we didn’t tax income from capital different (lower) than income from labor, then this loophole wouldn’t really be an issue in the first place.
All taxes need to be lowered and guvmint spending practically eliminated. Neither will happen, of course, because some folks like to vote against real anti-Swamp candidates (ahem..).
As it is now, right at 50% of Americans pay ZERO income tax. In fact, many get a frickin' check instead of a tax bill. Everyone, and I mean EVERY one, should have to pay Federal income tax...yes, I can support at different rates...and taxpayers should get an invoice, whereby we see where our money goes, by category. Bet that would open some eyes.
Pipe dream...nothing good like that will ever happen.
Circle back Jen... Psaki: It's ‘Unfair And Absurd’ That Companies Would Raise Costs Due To High Taxes
quote:
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed during Monday’s press briefing that it would be “unfair and absurd” for companies to raise costs on consumers in response to the Biden administration raising the corporate tax rate.
It amazes me that people in this admin can be this stupid.. Career politicians and bureaucrats who have never worked in the "real world" have no idea how it works. They look at advice from economists and people who are theorists and have never actually practiced what they preach.
We have a few here who claim to be conservative but will find a way to defend this idiocy.
Cost in any business is divided into 3 or 4 parts. The third or 4th being profit. If you raise the amount attributed to the other parts, the cost to consumer has to go up to preserve the same or sometimes any profit.
They still don’t understand that free school lunches aren’t free. 100 kids get lunch every day. 25 of them eat for free. So instead of everyone paying a dollar, 75 of them pay $1.33. Now, I’m not saying I don’t support paying for things so that the truly needy can be provided for. But don’t mislead by telling us it’s free.
Simple concepts that elude those who have never created anything.
I would guess that most economists and theorists would acknowledge that companies would pass on any and all costs to consumers. They may not like it, in some goody-two-shoes lefty way, but they realize that's the way things are.
I get the quarterly magazine published by the college of business at the University of Chicago, which includes the very liberal Austan Goolsbee, who was economic advisor to obummer and who appears occasionally on Hannity to offer some goofy, lefty viewpoint, and in this publication, "Chicago Booth Review," I have found a lot of sensible, centric, even some business-friendly opinions. There was an article about a year ago, written by two of their economic professors, which clearly, concisely and fairly explained the reasons that businesses have to raise prices for all kinds of reasons, and even emphasized the double-edged sword of hiking corporate taxes as it will impact the middle class, etc...
So, again, while the lefties may not like it, there aren't very many who don't understand why companies raise prices to consumers. Oh, except if you work in Sleepy Joe's WH apparently. Have to ask Goosey this, if the adults are truly in charge in the Biden Admin, when can we expect them to show up? So far, it's been a free-for-all of unsupervised 8-year-olds with their parents gone and no babysitter showing up.
Biden caught in another whopper, but it will be ignored.
Actually economists would not say that. Taxes are not all passed on. Only a portion of them.
It shifts the point of the supply and demand equilibrium.

I own and operate a small business: my rental properties. I keep a VERY detailed accounting of every penny spent and every penny earned. I'll spare y'all the gory details, but in general increases in property tax drives the price of rent up. Property taxes are reassessed every 5 years so it's a different dynamic than other taxes which may increase year over year, or every other year, or in some combination. But, regardless, all tax increases to me are rolled into the carrying cost of each property. The cost of insurance goes up too, especially when hurricanes cause $billions in damage, and that cost increase is rolled into the overall cost.
I can also tell you that an increase in the capital gains tax will affect the cost of rent too. Most investors own multiple properties and regularly divest some of them in favor of others, i.e. sell and buy something else. If an increase in capital gains takes a larger bite out of the profits of selling a property, that is money out of the investor's pocket. I guarantee he will seek to make it up elsewhere. In some cases, he might not have a choice, especially if he was counting on a certain walk-away profit from a sale which is now reduced.
For me, I have lease agreements, so an increase might go into effect, say a tax increase, and some or all of my tenants are in a lease with a set monthly price. I do not (and could not) alter that monthly rent cost. But, when it comes time to renew the lease then I build in the cost increases to me. One time my umbrella policy went up a whole $252/year. Spread over 8 properties = 31.50 each. divided by 12 = $2.65/month. I did not hike rents by the $2.65/month. But, two years later, I did have a general increase which went back and absorbed most of that $252 per year from the previous two years.
All of that to say, sure, there's not always an immediate transfer of costs from the supplier to the consumer, and it may not be an exact $1 = $1 either. But rest assured, cost increases are coming sooner or later that can be directly traced back to the increase of a cost, including a tax increase.
I don't have a fancy graph like in Goosey's post above...I use Excel spreadsheets. (and yes, I know, Excel produces graphs too)
Time to take look at the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Tracking Index since Sleepy has now reached/exceeded the worst level that Trump ever got to for three days in a row. Trump's worst point was at -26 on 8/3/2017.
Sleepy's index numbers this week are:
Monday -29 (21% Strongly Approve, 50% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 40%-58%)
Tuesday -28 (21% Strongly Approve, 49% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 41%-58%)
Wednesday -26 (22% Strongly Approve, 48% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 42%-56%)
None of that matters. What do 80% of those surveyed know? Goosey is part of the 21% Strongly Approve crowd. Goosey gets goose bumps, and a tingly feeling running up his leg at the mere sight of Sleepy Joe. He's his hero, ya know. Biden cheated...stole the election...and got "bad orange man" out of office. The end justifies the means. And now...Wow! Biden is doing such a great job systemically destroying this country. Well, Sleepy Joe has exceeded Goosey's wildest dreams, baby!
Always living in the past. We are taking about the guy who is president now. No whataboutism. Let’s focus on the guy with an approval rating hovering close to 1/3 of Trumps vaccine efficacy rate.(since you dug up the past)
These 53 restaurant chains on brink of disappearing.. so glad we are building back better...
https://explore.reference.com/these-...W1g7c8pFYaAhFQ
Yeah, like the capitalism that arises from vaccine and mask mandates from the government, making it impossible for some folks to enjoy going to a restaurant? The kind that causes increases in prices because some moron(s) decided that we don't need skilled manufacturing jobs here, so we can just let China take those with their lower energy and business costs and make it where we have to pay some unemployed actor (waiter and waitress) 20+ bucks an hour because they need a "living" wage in what WAS a starter job for a high school kid?
Yeah, that's capitalism......right.
Pull those shades down a little tighter and try to not look out of the window. That way you can keep believing what you think you know.
Several good restaurants in Ruston have a 40 minute wait for very day while the dining room is empty. No kitchen staff because the federal government is paying line cooks like they are gormet chefs.
More free food for those who don’t have to pay for it…say the idiots who voted for Biden.
I can’t argue with a stump. The whole point is there was no need for a shutdown and some people don’t want to borrow money that will cost them more in taxes over the next several years. Or it will just cost their kids more down the road. We aren’t leaving much of a world for our kids. Many of us work harder for less than our parents. How much worse will it be for the next generation. Obama added, what $11trillion, Trump added $7trillion, and now Biden would like to add about $5trillion in just 9 months of his term. That’s scary isn’t it? If he does this every year, he will add $20trillion by himself. Don’t spend what you don’t have. The end.
Bush II started the debt trend. In round numbers, Bush inherited about a $4 trillion debt from Clinton, obummer inherited about $9 trillion, Trump started with the debt at about $20.5 trillion, and Biden began at about $26 trillion, and as of today October 2, 2021 it is $28.8 trillion.
We went from 1776 until 2001 accumulating about $4 trillion in national debt, and have added another $24 trillion in 20 years. How did this happen?
Of course, if you aren’t paying much in wages, you get far less bang for your buck with PPP, but that was also the point. And that is also why the big chains mentioned in the original article actually benefitted from COVID at the expense of mom and pop restaurants.
I find it impossible to believe that Taco Bell is in financial trouble. Don't care if you like their food, or not, but like McDonald's, Taco Bell is an enormously successful business. Their franchisees do VERY well, more take home net income than McDonald's franchisees make.
Guisslap, if your wife's business had to shutdown, did she still keep her employees? If so, why? Seems to me that her employee's lost their jobs when her business shutdown. I am not a genius like you so please explain this to us simpletons.....
Please keep posting, your comments are hilarious!
Garland instructs FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose CRT, citing "threats"
quote:LINK
BREAKING: Attorney General Merrick Garland has instructed the FBI to mobilize against parents who oppose critical race theory in public schools, citing "threats."
The letter follows the National School Board Association's request to classify protests as "domestic terrorism."

We are getting closer and closer to living in a communist country.. Funny no one seemed to have a problem when democrats and Maxine Watters told people to harass and intimidate Trump's cabinet and members of Congress just a few years ago..
This won't turn out well. The non-sheeple are about to get a gut full.
Examples? Who threatened teachers by confronting them at their homes or chasing them into a restroom?
Who has been out there confronting teachers while they simply try to enjoy a meal, pump gas, or pick up groceries? Oh, I know, you misspelled “leftist”.
You forget, it’s called peaceful protest when things are broken, looted, burned, and shot at. It’s terrorism when someone uses their words at a school board meeting.
In today's clown world.. "threatening" teachers is simply disagreeing with them on subject material taught to children. There have been many examples of where "teachers" have actively instructed students to "keep" certain material from their parents..
School Boards are now eliminating "new topics" on agendas.. so parents or any others are no longer allowed to discuss anything that is not on the agenda.. If you do, or attempt to do that, you will be removed from the proceedings.. There is no way to openly bring up in a public setting things before the school board. Things must be submitted via online.. where if the board doesn't want to talk about it, it will be summarily dismissed or forgotten about. Not put on record.
Some good things are happening in North Carolina.
The Price Of Gas In Europe Hits All Time High, Has Tripled In One Month
quote:
European gas prices broke new record highs on Wednesday, rising sharply to above $1,900 per 1,000 cubic meters. That is equivalent to $186 per megawatt-hour in household terms.quote:
The price of gas on the European market has nearly tripled since the beginning of September, when October futures cost around $730 per thousand cubic meters.quote:
Energy prices in Europe have continued to spike as the first string of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline from Russia to Europe is being filled with natural gas. According to pipeline operators, procedures are being carried out to test the pipeline’s capacity, but deliveries to the continent have not yet begun.
https://www.rt.com/business/536714-gas-price-europe-new-record/
There are big concerns that the European energy crisis could hit the U.S. Shame that just a year ago we were energy independent and had low prices.. Yesterday WTI hit a 7 year high at $78.00/bbl and natural gas is around $6.00 mmbtu. People gonna be cold this winter.. pay very high energy bills.. Prediction is that mid terms swing in Republicans favor even more..
Are Manchin and Sinema going to hold the line against all this spending or are they going to cave? I saw some comments on chat boards, but no news.
Don't count on Joe Manchin for anything. When I lived in West Virginia I was shocked those people kept electing him (first as Governor then as Senator).
Joe Manchin is relishing the attention. That's what he does. He will compromise on everything he has said to make the media love him again.
Kelley Paul, Rand’s Wife, Has Had Enough Of The FBI & The DOJ

A mob held us hostage for ten minutes, spitting on and threatening to kill us. No charges! Fake anthrax and death threats sent to our home. No charges! Now just learned the person who called Rand’s Senate office threatening to shoot us will not be charged. I’m exhausted and angry

On May 28, a Republican-hating woman called Rand’s DC Senate office threatening to “shoot you all” to our staff member. She was never charged. Yet if you dare express indignation at a school board meeting about CRT or forced masks, the Biden DOJ and FBI say you’re a criminal.

I'm sure there are people on here who support the DOJ and FBI's actions.
More proof that Biden is not running this country.. Anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves ..

The US has no President. The US government is run by a cabal of military industrial complex chiefs, woke military brass, mega corporate elitists, Fed bankers, intelligence community bureaucrats, and Democrat Party shadow backroom string pullers (i.e. Obama, Susan Rice and Valerie Jarrett)
Duh. That’s what we voted for. The adults to be in charge, rather than the petulant egomaniac incumbent.
You have it completely backwards. Trump negotiated cuts in US oil production last year with OPEC and these were implemented through the conservative Texas Railroad Commission.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-g...-idUSKBN2172YE
So, Trump oversaw a reduction in production because we, as an O&G exporter, weren’t sending it out because the whole world was shut down. And we weren’t using it domestically because we were shut down too.
Why wouldn’t Biden reopen everything and ramp up production while getting the economy restarted from pandemic levels so he could claim a huge win for his admin?
I sure hope these adults get around to rescuing those children they abandoned in Afghanistan. I see some claims have been made recently that they have actually rescued about 800 of the 100 (a handful) folks they said they abandoned.
You must suspend logic and reason to believe these "adults" running the show. You must become a child.
Gasoline prices hit a 7-year high. Hmmm, who was POTUS seven years ago...wait, oh yeah! obummer was! Now his puppet, the moronic Sleepy Joe is POTUS, and prices are up. No surprise.
Funny how this goof ball is struggling to see and read the teleprompter. Squinting, stammering, coughing, etc.. VERY presidential. I love it when the words start moving too fast and he tries to speed up which makes him omit entire syllables in some words. He's an adult.
What awesome September job numbers!!! Not!
Wow, those "adults" are doing so well...:icon_roll:
Sleepy's daily tracking poll numbers back to their worst marks ever at a -29 index after briefly improving all the way to -21 last week. 15 straight daily polls (3 weeks) with the index at -20 or worse after 9 straight polls in late August into early September. Trump's longest stretch at -20 or worse was just 12 polls in a row.
Monday 10/11 -29, 21% Strongly Approve, 50% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 41%-58%
Sleepy ties the all-time low (GWB) in the Rasmussen Daily Tracking Poll Approval Index at -30 today.
Monday 10/11 -29, 21% Strongly Approve, 50% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 41%-58%
Tuesday 10/12 -30, 20% Strongly Approve, 50% Strongly Disapprove; Overall approval-disapproval 41%-57%
Bad Orange man is still making a mess of things. He has been out of office for over 9 months and things are so bad Biden still can't fix them. :rolleyes4:
I have been reading this thread tonight and find it fascinating how those on the left view things so differently. It is discouraging that so many on the left hate Donald Trump so much that they are willing to sacrifice the future of this great country just to prove a point. The issues are too many to list, but if you leftists can't see that this administration, and most in academia, are intent on making us all "woke" (whatever the crap that is supposed to mean) then I don't know what to do for you. It is obvious that the few of you who lean left on BB&B are very "smart", but it is also obvious that you are very stupid as well. I just pray that God will spare us from the destruction that Biden's puppeteers want to bring to this country, and maybe we can turn the tide in mid-term elections.
I see you don't post very much...in fact, I don't recall seeing any of your posts prior to this one. But, you posted more truth and common sense in one paragraph than our resident lefties have produced over tens of thousands of posts.
Those that hate Donald Trump hate America. There is a direct correlation.
Good job! Post more often.
