Today would have been Johnny Cash's 82nd birthday.
In related news, my not-quite-two-year-old insists on listening to Johnny Cash whenever he rides in Daddy's car.
And nobody insists on things the way that not-quite-two-year-olds do. It's a very insistent age.

Sitting at Posada's in Bossier. They can't handle the crowd for Mardi Gras and we want this town to host a conference tourney or continue to host a bowl game. Probably not.......
The food was good as always, but the servers and kitchen can't keep up with a 80% full restaurant.

word of the day: mcgyvery (n): unconventional innovation applied to a pressing problem, often involving the use of duct tape and/or bobby pins (bobby pins only applicable when removed from the hair of a hot and bewildered female).
as in, "with a lot of redneck engineering and mcgyvery, i was able to piece together a working lawn mower."

It's almost halway through 2014 ... Werent we all supposed to have robots by now?
I mean, I love my iPad and all, but that's not really what we were promised when we were kids. They told us that robots were imminent, and by the time we were grown, there'd be a robot in every home to wash dishes and fold laundry and change light bulbs and walk the dog, etc.
We were all supposed to have a robot and a flying car. And at this point, I'd just settle for the robot.
Where's my dang robot already?!

My theory on that is that they were on the horizon, but then that iRobot movie came out, scared everybody to death, and somebody important changed their mind on robots.

I have family who live overseas and work with the US State Dept. There was a meet and greet with VP Biden before his meeting with the President of Romania. My family attended the event so my young cousins could have the experience and learn something our our foreign relations. My youngest cousin, a 6 yr old, asked why Biden was there. My aunt explained that he was going to talk with the leaders of Romania. Her response was priceless. "Why didn't he just call?"

When you are walking up to the entrance of Subway and there is a person about to exit Subway and you hold the door open for that person so they can leave while at the same time a BIG girl (as in obese BIG) had walked up behind you and takes advantage of you holding the door and enters the Subway right after the other person exited the Subway and the person who left says "thank you" but the BIG girl just walks in and says nothing and proceeds to the line ahead of you even though technically you were there first and you should be in line ahead of the BIG girl and instead of only listening to her breathe in line you have to watch and listen to her breathe in line....that might be an indication you are not having the best of days but you have to give her kudos for choosing Subway over McDonalds.

Several years ago, when my son was about 11 or 12, we watched some old comics on youtube. Afterward, he spent many many hours watching Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis shows.

The funnest thing about flying a kite is when the string breaks and you have to chase it through yards, over fences, across roads and then you have to climb a tree to get it down.

we have a mutt that we believe to be a schnauzer/poodle mix and he is the best dog we could possibly have for our family. he's protective but not stupid. loves to play but isn't destructive. loves the kids and tolerates their shenanigans. and best of all, the only time he barks is when there's something that really needs attention (or one of the kids is keeping his ball just out of reach).

To set the stage.....son is 6 and daughter is 3.
Daughter runs in living room naked and proclaims she has started her bath water. Also informs us that son has missed the toilet and pee'd the floor, but, "it otay", because she cleaned it up.
Coming home to work after work is truly one of the greatest experiences of my life. And don't worry about the pee on the floor. If you buy my house one day, it will get a good steam cleaning first, probably.

The "neighborhood" rule at second base may come under scrutiny due to instant replay. I don't like the rule, but it has been allowed for so long I would not want it taken away due to replay.

I agree. It's like a consistent home plate ump who calls outside strikes, but calls them the same all game long.

If the rule is wrong, then get rid of it. I've seen too many misses of the bag and the runner called out because of this rule. It truly infuriates me!

I don't like the "rule" either. However, they claim it is a concern of player safety. Also, the call is made while the second baseman or short stop are clearly hovering over the bag or are 12-15 inches from the bag. This is easily seen by the ump without replay. The call should be made correctly without replay. That is what infuriates me. It shouldn't take instant replay to make them call a play correctly.
-

Giving the defense the play at first on a double play or a great play by the fielder is also the norm and often obviously missed.

Yes, sometimes it's absolutely necessary. But as a practice, it's rude.

So, I typically buy a cheap $2 bag of mixed nuts or trail mix. I don't want gas, a drink, a bag of chips, pack of gum, or nasty gas station food every time I go. Perhaps they could offer access to only the sports articles at a reduced rate? I am no computer programming guy, but maybe it could be done?
