Re: Sources: Conference USA TV - ESPN, CBS SN, ASN, beIN Sports, 5th TBA
I am glad we are not playing mid week games. Unless the TV partners are going to make up the loss at the gate, play on Saturday at night. Tech will gain more fans by a great game day than to play on fox on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tues or Wed 6:00 or 7:00 games will draw many more fans than 11:00 Saturday games.

Do you realize how many tickets we have to sell to make up the $400k-$500k we lost per school?
Over 3k per game at FULL price...

From what I've seen, Judy Mac is in waaay over her head in this commissioners role. She couldn't sell water in the desert.

Then you need to hire a better commissioner to negotiate this stuff. It's one thing to say "we have to make up the $400k-$500k that we lost per school", which is true for the short term. But it's a completely different issue to KILL YOUR FAN BASE long term playing Tuesday and Wed night games. I'm done with that. It's just not practical for many of us football season ticket holders to travel to Ruston round trip for Tuesday and Wednesday night games.

But she knew how to convert the C-USA hoops tourney in B'ham into the C-UAB tourney when she was tourney director in 2014.

Exactly- I'm not opposed to one weeknight home game if we got paid

If they PAY US - one week night game a year is NOT going to kill us as much as three 11:00 am starts on Saturday
But I agree with YOU she is swimming in the open water without a life vest and cannot doggie paddle much less swim...
WEAK WEAK commissioner along with our weak AD is bad medicine for us

Re: Sources: Conference USA TV - ESPN, CBS SN, ASN, beIN Sports, 5th TBA
I'm guessing it would be really hard to get rid of a bad-hire conference commish; especially a p.c. one ??

Chuck Landon: C-USA kept the new TV pact secret for a reason
Huntington Herald Dispatch-11 hours ago
And don't let anyone try to say the MAC's television revenue will fall just like C-USA's when it has to negotiate a new contract. It's not true.

Not only is Judy not a good communicator, but she's not in any way viewed as a "climber". One of the reasons Banowsky was able to make an impact is the fact he was viewed as a person who might someday be a major power broker in college athletics. Any person with that reputation will have move leverage in a negotiation than someone who is not. He also had a reputation as someone who built relationships when he was young with some of the younger execs and employees in the athletic and TV industries. Some of those people are in power positions today and control these type of contracts.
From a political standpoint, Banowsky had everything in place to get things done. It's why in a couple of years he'll be the head of the CFP.

You're right. It's not good PR. It's another strike against Judy. She's on record as saying the Virginia Pilot story that gave the numbers was not correct. Yet she was the one who provided a presentation to the presidents and gave them written materials with numbers. Those materials were then subject to FOI requests. And because the conference office hasn't released the details of the finalized agreement, it meant the materials given to the presidents were open to interpretation.
Those materials probably don't tell the whole story. Bad mistake.
