So if we surge testing (I'm assuming test more people), won't you expect to find more cases, either a-sym or mild. So we have more cases therefore we're not going to open until again we can ramp up testing and see decreases in the number of cases. Seems like a vicious circle.

Hospitilizations should be the metric, IMO. That would rule out the increased cases due to increased testing.
They still aren’t really testing asymptomatic people in the area even if they have had direct exposure to a known positive. You can probably get the test under those circumstances, but they aren’t generally going to encourage you to if you are asymptomatic. We are way too short on tests to test asymptomatics.

I am hoping that means if we have a rise in numbers we can then do large count testing to find and quarantine the sick and not the well. What a novel idea. I understand with little reliable test kits and no domestic manufacturers of reliable tests the only way to protect the hospitals was to shut things down but now we should do what has been done for 100’s of years and quarantine the sick.

Trumps fault for not “rolling out” the tests

Everything is his fault ,he stopped travel to soon and now not soon enough. He allowed us citizens to come home and now he let people come in after the ban.

That was always the idea. Case counts drop then open (while social distancing) and test and contract trace when new cases arise. But that relies on way more testing capacity than what currently exists.

Meanwhile Tensas Parish is still sitting on their ONE case. Surely Tensas can reopen.

Has anybody in Louisiana died of anything other than the China virus over the last four weeks? I’m pretty sure ALL deaths in region 8 have been due to the China virus.

Just messing around. I think he took it in the right spirit. Nothing wrong with that.

Delivered another 750 masks to the NRMC today. They are labeled as disposable, each individually wrapped. The nurses love the ones we brought last week and were glad to see these. They say they are comfortable and they are wearing them in conjunction with other masks, depending on what they are doing and how close they work with patients. My wife and one of her techie professors used a 3D printer to make some mask adjusters. They allow the wearer to better adjust the mask, taking the pressure off your ears. The nurses love those too.
Dr. Pan emailed saying unless we were desperate this was the last of the shipments. Many vendors are providing masks now, so that will probably be the last ones from Shenzhen.
