Re: Parrish: UT focusing on Mike White for HC vacancy
Some thoughts...
At our level we should always be on the look out for up and comers for coaches. If we hire right they will be hired away eventually. Mike White will eventually leave. Keep investing in the program and make it a prominent place people want to come.
Seeking stability gets you a coach nobody wants to hire away...(see football) Stability is overrated. National prominence for being a great place for up and comers is not.

I was at the championship game. Things didn't start out so well. The Shreveport Bossier Mavericks were down 17 to 0 to Jacksonville to start game 2 after winning game 1 (best 2 out of 3 format), but fought back to bring home the championship. The ABA has some funky rules, but the game was exciting to watch.

Sometimes you need not look too far; the best person is very close. :icon_wink:

If more people would just do that, it'd make it a lot easier to spot other members.
I know a couple of people that are on this board; it's the reason why I got on here in the first place. However, it shouldn't be hard for any of you to know what my BBB handle is when you meet me because it's my last name :icon_wink:

I agree.

If you ever talked to one of the board members of TAG, then you've talked to a BB&B user.

I have a feeling this ain't over yet. If Donovan leaves Fla for the NBA and they come after White, it will be hard for him to pass on that job. Maybe Fla goes for a more high profile coach, but how satisfying would it be for Fla to land the coach that turned down UT?

I incited the "You're not a real state, you're just a bunch of Mormons" chant during the Utah State game a few years ago, if that rings any bells for anyone.

I can't see UF going after Mike White. With there recent success in the last 10-15 years, I think it would be a stretch to offer a coach that has zero tournament experience. Stranger things have happened though.

The only BBBer I ever disliked right away was a former player who's now a chigger fan. He was both mean and ignorant, a nasty combination.
My sincere apologies for not remembering our meeting C967. Of course, the older I get, the less I seem to remember. I do remember meeting several BB&Ber's at a couple of those tailgates. Those were fun. We should do it again in 2014.
Now you've got me wondering who that former player is that became a State fan. Hmmm......

Were you the guy that incited the "Bicknell revolt" during the UNT game back in 2007? Someone (maybe you?) held up a homemade sign during the game (which was televised) that said "JOAKES on us!"--or something to that effect. It was literally a case of a core group of Tech fans taking a stand against the administration keeping JBIII any longer. The bad news is, Jim Oakes' wife got very angry and confronted the core of Tech fans around the sign, and we were told here on BB&B that things got a very tense. Nobody wanted that.
But, the good news is, IT WORKED. That stunt in the UNT stands back in 2007 served to rightfully embarrass the Tech administration, and it appeared to be the final impetus for firing JBIII and ushering in the Derek Dooley era. If it wasn't you, does anybody know who it was?
I've often wondered how things would have gone for LA Tech football if those fans didn't take a final stand that night. Would we even have a Jumbotron today? Probably not.

As a matter of fact, every good thing that has happened to Tech since 2004 was due to my efforts. :icon_wink:
