Those poll numbers show just how out of touch the mainstream media is with the American people. President Trump’s poll numbers are terrifying to the brain dead Democrats.

If the Democratic party continues to move to the left and the nominee is pushing socialist agenda items, then Trump easily wins a second term. Many moderate democrats, probably more than in 2016 will switch to the Republican candidate because they do not believe in the far left ideals that the rising stars of the Democratic party are proposing.
Trump will KILL the democraps if they push this socialist and marxist agenda.

Nope. It was different. Of course, he threw out the "illegals are rapists and murderers" stuff that he usually throws out (despite the fact that it's not statistically accurate) and he begged them to stop investigating (me thinks thou dost protest too much), but apart from those two things, Trump presented himself as a pragmatic uniter who can get things done. I can't remember who posted it...maybe a former RNC chair, but he said "If all Trump's speeches were like this, he'd be at 50%+ approval rating". He's right.
“From” not “front”
It wasn't too different, like I said. At the rallies he often reacts to what the crowd chants or someone shouts out. But his prepared speech for a rally is pretty much the same as he said in the SOTU address. Yes, he sometimes uses more "colorful language" at a rally. But that it true of all politicians since the audience at a rally is their base. They all do it, but only Trump gets lampooned for it.
Point is, and what I focus on, is the substance of what any politician says. I allow "colorful" language and partisan rhetoric to roll right off. Now, it is true, as you alluded to, not all people (voters) can do that. Too many are caught up in the rhetoric, and can't/don't look deeper into the substance.
Well Trump’s fertilization of the seeds of populism is also fertilizing the weeds of Democratic populism - which is what you are seeing with the rise of socialism on the left. We should be voting for pragmatists - not demagogues.
Was in a car with three VERY, VERY liberal folks driving to Shreveport for a meeting. During the hour+ drive this topic came up. While we disagreed, and still do disagree, on the issues, we did find common ground on the whole populism question. In our case, we thought a dose of populism into the political system is good for it, now and then. Like an elixir it cures some of the illness that is politics.
Bernie Sanders is a populist from the commie side of the coin. He did really well in the 2016 primaries, and probably would have won, or made it even closer, had the Klinton political machine, and their willing accomplices in the DNC, not fixed the election.
Now we see the rise of AOC, the darling of the commies. She is so stupid it is comical. She makes Joe Biden look smart...and that is hard to do! BTW, I like Joe Biden, as a person. He's just not fit to hold office...any office. AOC and some other newbies are riding the populism wave. Michael Moore, another moron, has ordained her as the proper leader of the Democrat Party. I asked if you libs agree with that assertion, and all I got was crickets. So, I guess y'all don't. Back to the point...populism allows a political candidate/office holder to tap into a political "movement." Usually such "moverments" represent between 25-30% of the electorate. Not enough to win a national election, and often, not enough to win most statewide elections (senator or governor). So! to win, such a candidate has to tap into other "groups." These groups might be independents, but mostly they are disenfranchised "party loyalists" searching for a new home. Trump was successful in picking up the anti-Killary, anti-socialists former Dem supporters in key states, namely the rust belt...Michigan, Pennsylvania, etc.. that tipped the election to him.
In the big picture what such populist candidates do is shake up, and shake out, the status quo. REMEMBER: the real enemy is not either political party, or any of the other minor parties either, it's THE SWAMP. The Swamp wants status quo. This "establishment" is entrenched and it steals $billions and $billions from the average American annually. For instance, why is Pelosi so anti-wall? Nope, that's not why (for those of you who thought you knew the answer). She is anti-wall because walls work and she is on the take from the drug cartels. She benefits financially, personally, from the illegal drug trade. And, she is hardly alone in that endeavor.
Back to the car ride...so, the 3 libs and I agreed that the American political system, the two major parties and the whole process, a $multi-billion business, has gotten too powerful. It needs to be reminded that this nation is "WE THE PEOPLE" and populist candidates and "populism" serves that purpose. Just look how just two older guys, Trump and Sanders, were able to shake the establishment to its core. Now is the time to pour on more pressure! And that pressure needs to be applied from both directions, from the right, and from the left. We'll meet in the middle somewhere and WE THE PEOPLE will sort it out.
