How much do you hate "the ATM machine"?

Griffonage, specifically my own and my middle kid's.
Oh, my 7th grader can’t write neatly to save his life. I erase stuff and make him rewrite all the time.
Virtually every local sports radio personality using the word "obviously" at least once in every sentence. Sometimes twice.
If it's so obvious, why are we talking about it?
Real estate agents who don’t bother to measure a property when they list it. Making me, the appraiser, the bad guy when a house is 300sf below listing.
When I get stuck behind the person that drives 30 MPH no matter what road or speed limit is set. Speed limit 55? Nope, 30. 45? No way, 30. 25? ...30. I-20 (70 through Ruston)? Ok.. we'll push it up to 45, maybe 50.
It's a big change moving back to Ruston from DFW where 75 can get you the finger on 114 or 121.
when people use the word "every" in place of "ever".
Having to explain to an executive that you cannot use the "Deleted Items" folder in Outlook to keep emails.
Holy cow! Really? Funny and sad.
How about the “Fast” Checkout at the grocery store? Yeah, the one that takes at least 5-10 minutes longer than a live person?
The Kroger we use has something that is I guess meant to be like a jumbo self-checkout. You do it yourself but have the whole little belt and all instead of the usual tiny self-checkout kiosk. And my issue is when the thing starts beeping at me for too many things on the belt and the little hovering watch person comes to tell me I need to go bag some stuff (and put it where? I'm still unloading the cart). My reaction is usually that if you're going to make me do it myself, I get to do it how I want to do it.
I've noticed they often just start bagging for me now instead.
HS Sports Twitter's use of dominate vs. dominant.
"He had a dominate performance out there" is almost every HS sports post on the internet, coaches and press alike. Also, college and pro coverage is not immune but HS sports Twitter is the worst.
I-20 through Alabama never fails to have a rather long construction zone, with speed reduced to 55, where there isn't even any pretend construction going on.
Oh--and why isn't there a clean bathroom between Vicksburg and the Buc-cee's outside of Birmingham?
Baby Boomers who truly, deeply believe in their hearts that - after centuries of development, evolution, and constant change - the English language achieved crystalline perfection precisely during the years in which they attended school, and any changes since then are illegit.
The use of the pronoun "they" for an individual to avoid offending anyone.
Maybe we could just give everyone the nickname “Pat”. That way, we don’t have to misuse the English language. We could also just say, “hey!”, to everyone. No names, no pronouns. But we can get extremely offended if the correct person doesn’t acknowledge they hear us.
I’m not sure it’s possible, but I would like to see if our beloved university could make the process any less efficient than it already is to get signed up to serve as an adjunct professor.
Once again, inconsistency from our ticket people rears it head. We have had 10 tickets for football for a decade. Always had 3 sets of parking passes. This year, only 2. Apparently, for a decade someone in the office did us a favor and provided 3 passes. This year, no dice. I don’t care what the rule is, just follow it.
The fact they didn't mail out parking passes automatically to out of towners really bothered me greatly...
Should have been mailed to all pass holders. What are we paying for if the fan has to give money in order to be allowed the opportunity to still do the leg work? I know it’s no big deal for me since I work all over town and pass Tech twice a week at least, but this is a simple thing.
No matter how much you spend on paint, it’s all crap. Follow advice of painters and allow the paint several days to set up before putting drawers back in a desk. It still peels off. Don’t hang pictures for 3-4 days, paint still flakes. $30/gallon for garbage that has to be touched up once a month. Bring back lead base!
Ordering a sweatshirt online to replace the one I ordered which does not fit. Even though the measurements they provide on the size chart are exactly my measurements. Of course, they never account for my ridiculously wide shoulders. Sometimes I hate buying clothes because to fit my shoulders the shirt hangs to my knees.
ALL suitcases go under the plane.
Business associates who ALWAYS let your call go to voicemail to make you think they are busy. It works for gullible people about 2 times. After about 100 phone calls, it’s just ridiculous.
When people put pronounce athlete with three syllables.
That’s almost as bad as real-a-tor.
People who put on their email replies
I WILL BE OUT OF THE OFFICE TILL X after just sending you an email and you reply back
I'm a professional, I answer my damn emails 365 days a year and I never change my reply signature
It take 2 seconds
We use out of office emails in my office, but you can set it to start after 5:00 or whatever on that last day. So usually you wouldn't get an email from me and then immediately reply and get that - because if the out of office is on, I'm not emailing you (mostly).

People (mostly young people) who look at their phone and actually respond to texts during a business meeting. I suppose this is not rude and arrogant if I'm not "woke" enough to understand what might be more important to them than the FREEKING MEETING THEY SCHEDULED WITH ME SEVERAL DAYS AGO.
Offered a business internet service upgrade. Only a $10 increase to double our speed. However, new router only has 2 Ethernet ports. We have 5 devices and all have to be hard wired. So, we can either continue to deal with crappy speed or we can buy all new office equipment that will run thousands.
Thanks, we can probably deal with internet provider refusing service if we don’t use their router. We have tech support also.
When people say “ circle back”
Murdaugh has a "ock" sound at the end. I hate when talking heads just decide to change pronunciations on words and/or names.
That the letter "t" has disappeared from the English language.
Examples:
Forgo en = forgotten
Bu en = button
shoo ing = shooting
I thought it was going to go away, but it seems to have become more pervasive lately. Gonna be tough on the kids to learn how to spell phon e icly.
Yet they add an extra syllable to contractions. They were actually taught this wrong pronunciation…adding dunt to the end of not words
I was living in Layton, Utah for several years until a couple of years ago and used to hear it all the time…Lay un. It used to drive me crazy. We moved to Texas and I thought that would be the last I’d hear it since I thought it was a Utah thing. I heard it again from someone around here the other day, though. It’s either spreading or the transplants are bringing it with them.
Closely related to that is the constant use of “for sure” by the younger generation.
Trying to get records from one doctor to another when no one knows the correct fax number. Why are we using physical faxes instead of E-fax or secure email?
All the Facebook posts from teachers talking about how tired they are from dealing with kids for the last 8.5 months. Begging people to thank a teacher, share a positive experience with your kids teacher. What about the rest of us who have to deal with idiot adults year round who might have been in your class at some point?
Our timekeeping software.
I'm not saying a yellow legal pad and a #2 pencil would be a clearly better system, but. . . it might be worth doing the math. The number of actions it takes just to record a normal day of work (for professional staff) is ridiculous. I'm sure the auditors appreciate not having to comb through paper time-cards, but at some point that's their problem (and their job) and not mine.
Those who treat Memorial Day as another Veterans’ Day….
Yes. There was a time when many didn’t know. They have been corrected so many times they now just include “…and those who served”
I’ll recycle one.
Why do companies waste paint by putting arrows in parking lots?
When people say “reach out” to him/her…
The first 1,000 times I heard it it seemed to have a bit of cachet- but not so much anymore.

The continued run of unsubstantiated rumors whirling around college football. There must be a dozen teams that are joining the Big 12 in the next month. Clearly, sports reporters will print anything they hear regardless of quality of source.
Even worse--La Tech is never mentioned in the rumors.
my peeve of the day, We got a text around 3am that there was a tornado warning for louisiana tech and ruston to seek shelter, there was no such warning. About 20 min later got a text saying there had been a train derailment on the tech campus to stay indoors and lockdown until further notice, no such derailment had occurred. About 20 after that got another text saying there had been no derailment. thats one heck of a mistake to make and a horrible time to do it when stressed enough about violent storm coming through. there needs to be two buttons 20' apart that takes two people to push in order to send such a warning. geeze
Friends who have big boats, side by sides, new vehicles, several vacation several times a year but bitch and moan every time the power goes out because of storms (or the suicidal squirrel) but won't invest in a whole house generator because they cost too much to only use once or twice a year...
You can turn off emergency notifications on your phone. I am not saying you won't win a Darwin award eventually but that option is there. When a storm is warned for 80 MPH winds the conditions are such that can happen. More often than not, it won't affect you. Here are the storm reports from last night. A lot of people had a rough night. One of my coworkers lives in Longview and had significant tree loss at his property. He told me it was legit.

Apparently, 125,000 in Shreveport-Bossier were/are without power
I'm still without power. It got pretty bad- tons of tree/power lines down. My office was down as well. People don't understand that down traffic lights are treated as four-way stops.

got a text from my internet provider to let me know that my internet may be out due to power outages in my area (my power was out, duh). then i got a text at 5am to let me know that my internet had been restored at 6pm...
Day 3 without power / it sucks.
Finally came on last night, but my kitchen fridge is apparently dead, so not only lose hundreds of dollars of food, but also either pay someone to come fix or get a new fridge. Oh and the internet is still down (1st world problems).
Trying to navigate Shreveport/Bossier today. It’s crazy. Flat tire…
Was on my generator for 66 hours and finally got the internet back last night. I'll never regret what that generator cost me.
We have a 25kw Koehler whole house generator. Worth every dime.
Finally, a good use for AI:

Going on a vacation to the Ark, Creation Museum, and Smoky Mountains with people who aren’t interested in any of those things.
It has been amazing. Learning a lot and testing our limits with the hiking. Beautiful country up here unspoiled by the woke minority.
I’ve probably said this before, but driving across I-10 in Florida. Why can’t they make the speed limit 75? It’s 200+ miles of nothing.
It was 75 on most interstate roads in Appalachia and down from Nashville. Even if the net result is 10-15 minutes saved, it sure feels like more.
Having driven from Jacksonville several times, yeah, that's a long haul. There are stretches of interstates, in remote areas, where it should be like the German autobahn with NO speed limits. Heck, there are state highways and some US highways, not interstates, where the speed limit can be lifted or at least set at 85mph or so.
Putting on your blinker in the middle of the block in order to parallel park and the idiot behind you gets right on your bumper so you can’t park.
Being told in surgical consult that you will go home same day and then finding out you are spending the night 1.5 hours from home
Hip replacement. Already discharged and headed to Ruston. All went well. It was just aggravating to have to sramble a little.
My brother-in-law had a hip replacement, and it was day surgery and home that night. His wife is a recently-retired surgical nurse and she wanted to be present to watch the procedure and she said it was remarkable what they can do these days.
I have degenerative hip and a very bad right knee, and a not-so-good left knee too. Have only had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee, twice thus far, and now getting cortisone shots about every 5-6 months to be able to function. Doctor told me when I get tired of the shots he'll replace my banged-up right knee. My hip? Well, I don't know about that, although I am encouraged by recent developments. Hate to say this, but I don't like hospitals and try to stay away from them as much as possible...:icon_roll:
Glad yours went well.
5 days out and I’m already walking the neighborhood 2 times daily. Zero pain pills since leaving hospital. I learned that I would have gone home same day except that I live 70 miles from that hospital and it also took me quite a while to get up and around after the spinal wore off. Apparently, a spinal can make your BP do some wonky stuff, and mine did. Hope you can have a replacement that will solve your issue. I already feel so much better. I’m no fan of hospitals either and doctor told me similar. “Come in when you can’t take it anymore.” For me, I got there quick.
