Harper Hall was still a small dormitory (the newone was there when I arrived) and Mitchell was th newest men's dormitory. Hutchinson had also opened before 1965. Now the two that we all want torn down were built while I was there.
So...you were there when a guy couldn't hold hands with a girl on campus and girls were not allowed to smoke in the Tonk.

And the girls had curfews and you had to go to the lobby in the girls dorm to have them call the girls to meet you in the lobby.

All? We don't all want them torn down. Those of us who value the legacy of your generation of Tech students would like to see the buildings constructed in your era rehabilitated for new uses.
Only people who hate history, and by extension America, want to see the dorms torn down.

Those dorms were new when I lived in them. But...the elevators didn't work all the time...even when they were new.

Yep....they locked the doors at curfew time.
Re: If you want a thread to die
Well Champ, I lived in them and they were utilitarian and were air conditioned but they have no particular sentimental value. Now the older dorms do, like Richardson/Cottingham or even Robinson. Thatcher went when they built Madison. I see some of the dorms that just used to be for girls have men now - Graham/Pierce? but not Harper. How about Adams? My freshman year they put girls in South. Is that one still there. I hardly ever come up from US 80 that way anymore.
They tore down the newest women's dorm long ago. It had suites and balconies. Must have been faulty construction.
