FIU ball 46 seconds left looking to hold on 24-21.

Was looking forward to meeting you. Unfortunately unexpected obligations appeared. I did watch the debacle on ESPNU, I think it was. Planning on going v UTEP. I was confident we would win and cover today, which we did. I also was confident in the UAB game.

That was one of the most lame college football environments I have experienced, by the way... on par with ULM. They did have some hideously overpriced craft beer and some decent sliders to eat.

At this pt we have a chance to go 9-3 but I expect 7-5 finish. However nothing would surprise me not even 5-6 but 6-6, 7-5 is more likely.

Positives: Defense did its job against a weak offense.
JMAR played a solid game.
Great to see Veal more involved in offense.
Our coverage teams were solid.
All of our remaining games are winable except State

Negatives: We still have no running game which is why it’s hard to confidently expect this team to win 8-9 games.
No running game means we must have 300-400 passing per game (yikes)
Our return teams are still completely ineffective.

Our return teams have been terrible ever since Holtz has been coach. What will it take for us to establish just average special teams play?

Fair Catch Teddy still does not have any punt returns this season. I believe coach has told him to only do fair catches. You can sometimes see his frustration when he realizes he could have had a big gain.

I don’t think coach trusts anyone else back there and doesn’t want Veal to get injured.

I’d love to see Smoke back there making plays.
