Yes, that was Tech's second bowl and I was at that one, too.

You are missing my point. If we prove that we cannot travel well to Dallas, the CUSA is more likely to send a Texas team next time. If the Indy is not open, they will send us to Hawaii or Bahamas. If the bowl in Ft.Worth has an at large spot...they will choose someone else. There is not one good reason that I can think of to say attendance to a bowl game doesn't matter even if the conference does eat the cost of the remaining tickets. We have still yet to prove that we travel in large numbers to anywhere but Shreveport. Bad attendance could also leave us sitting at home if other conference teams have similar records & travel better.
Your point is your uninformed opinion.
Have you seen how Rice travels? They were the other option this year. It would be a no brainer to send North Texas, but no proof that UTSA might travel well.
The conference does not eat the cost of tickets. The teams involved do.
We have proven great attendance in New Orleans, Houston, and Dallas (SMU).
Last statement is just stupid.
Please stop dissing our fans.
The funny thing is that the local media in Shreveport is touting that the Indy Bowl has already sold 37K tickets... And since these schools have purchased less than 800, that means Shreveporters are purchasing tickets in mass! What they either don't realize or are ignoring is that the Indy Bowl already has ~30K tickets sold before they even announce the teams, which includes two ticket allotments that have to be purchased whether they sell them or not, sponsorship tickets, and I-Bowl season ticket holders.
Thank you. What some of our fans are ignoring or fail to realize is that the day after Christmas on a work day at noon is an awfully bad bowl slot. Compound that with our ticket office only selling $75 tickets when you can purchase $25 or $50 tickets or even get free tickets for first responders directly from the bowl, this is what you get. Our fans are not the problem. We have awesome fans!
One more thing... You talk like going to the Bahamas or Hawai'i is some horrible thing. It's not. Those bowls would also be great for our program, and I hope we get to play in both of those bowls before these 6-year contracts are up. We don't wanna be like the Belch sending the same teams to the same bowls for four consecutive years or more. All we have to do is win at least 7 games a year, and we will almost be guaranteed a good bowl game.
The Dawgs will be at the Dallas Mavericks vs Atlanta Hawks game Monday night.
I have never "dissed" our fans and you are uniformed if you dont think that butts in the seat makes a difference. I gave different scenarios where we could get left out or be sent packing to bowl games. It is more than opinion. Ask anyone that serves or has served on a bowl committee. I don't know why you believe I am trying to stir something up when I just want to inform our alumni, students & friends that attendance does matter. And you are correct about Houston. I cannot speak for Dallas SMU game or New Orleans.
If you can't speak for Dallas (SMU) or New Orleans you don't know WTH you are talking about. If you knew WTH you were talking about, you'd know that an 8 win team will never be left out of a C-USA bowl. Other than the Sunbelt, it's very unlikely a 7 win team would ever be left out of a bowl in any conference.
No, lack of butts in seat won't keep a 7 or 8 win team from bowling. This ain't the 90s.
We don't have to run faster than the bear. We just have to outrun our local conference mates.
And we got that. If we have the same record as the hometown team, they're going to get the nod most years. Past that, it's record and geography. Once you get outside of the nearest metro area or two, any CUSA team is a wash for ticket sales.
