Memphis will host SFA 11/21
UTSA/MTSU will count as a conference game. Both teams lost an ODU game & both will likely lose a Rice game later in the year.

If UTSA doesn't play Rice this season, but we do - guess who will be all alone as UTSA's all-time most-played opponent (I"m pretty sure)?
Quirk of conference realignment and small sample size and new program and all that, but interesting (to me). Sort of like us sharing a conference with UNC-Charlotte for X number of years and counting without ever having played in football (or sharing a conference with ODU for however many years without having yet hosted them in Ruston). Easily explained, but fun in the way that Rice being undefeated against Alabama is fun from a trivia perspective.

Mountain West optimistic about playing 8-game schedule starting Oct. 24, w/presidents possibly voting Friday, sources told @Stadium. If presidents delay vote, MW likely would only have 7-game schedule starting Oct. 31. All 12 schools intend to play at this time, source said

So, what's so magical about Oct 24th? That seems to be the date that all these "Johnny come lately" conferences are adopting for a new season start. Is that just as fast as they can get their act together or something?

I don't get it either. I thought they were given the okay to be practicing this whole time to some extent. It can't take too much to put a conference-only schedule together. They can also find an OOC game too with these other late-to-the-party conferences.

Tech and Rice, UTSA's most played opponents at. . .8 (it'll be 9 this year if we can get the game in).
You gotta start sometime, but it's just funny to think about teams who have played well over 100 games against each other and then there is 8. The 49ers' is a CUSA-E tie with 5 games per team.

6 games? Why bother?
Re: 2020 Season - Covid Edition
North Texas/Houston cancelled. This is the 4th opener for Houston that has been cancelled. UNT had the positives.

I thought it was their 5th.
Either way, tough start for the Cougars.

Yeah it is their 5th. Dana Holgorsen is about to lose his mind. He was upset at Baylor cancelling so late last week. The talking heads on talk radio are all saying they were expecting some cancellations, but nothing like this. So many more than basketball, baseball, hockey, golf, tennis and so on. But these are amatuer, college students. Plus each team or conference has different testing procedures and protocols, different guidelines on what is required for a player to be able to play and for a team to play. I think we may see cancellations throughout the whole season, just hope they decrease as the season wears on. We were probably lucky to get hit so hard early on.

Tulsa @ Arkansas State canceled.
