He may want to reconsider Cheddars, it seems to do really well here. Maybe their franchise fees are really high or something?
No, chedders corporate said no because there is one in Monroe and one in Shreveport. He even offered to buy the one in Shreveport because it supposedly is poorly managed. Both of those locations are corporately owned. He thought it would do very well in ruston.

I like Cheddar's. Cheddar's in College Station is one of the most popular restaurants there.
Logan's? I don't like Logan's.
Re: Logan's Roadhouse Coming to DAWGTOWN
He applied for the license 4 months ago. He was wanting to beat the cracker barrel. It would have been great. But he just purchased a ruston landmark and is looking to put another restaurant on that same property...though I'm not as excited about it as I was the cheddars.

Cheddars in West Monroe --> staff poorly trained.
Peak time there are unusually long waits.
Food portions ARE big.
Pricing excellent.
Dining experience, however, lukewarm.

Been there 2 times and we had good service, but long wait for table and food. You are correct about portion and price. It is enough to take a lunch to work the next day.

Pretty much the same in Shreveport. I have always liked eating there in TX, but the one here is just not a good experience.

You hit the nail on the head on the bolded parts! :(

Given the big portions/cheap prices, it can attract a less-than-stellar crowd at times. Lots of screaming kids, long waits, etc.

Haven't been to the one in Ruston, but this sums up my impression of the Monroe restaurant. Not bad food, just nothing special.

Newk's would do well in Dawgtown.IMHO

Funny you say that. With it's arrival in Monroe, the rumor for ruston expansion began over a year ago.

So there's going to be another restaurant in addition to cracker barrel in the same vicinity?

Chachos Nachos would be great. They have gone into the Houston market after covering San Antonio. Below is a picture of a HALF portion of their nachos. You should see the Kong. If that won't stop your heart I don't know what will.

My brother took me there over a year ago when I was in town. I sent the nasty gumbo back. I went for the BBQ shrimp which wasn't much better.

Yes, if that doesn't stop your heart the margaritas will pickle it! One almost puts you under and two definitely will.
