H.L. Mencken (born 1880 - died 1956) was a journalist, satirist, critic and registered Democrat.
Mencken wrote the editorial below while working for the Baltimore Evening Sun, which appeared in the July 26,1920 edition.
"As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people.
On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last
and the White House will be occupied by a downright fool and complete narcissistic moron."
- H.L. Mencken, the Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920
So it was written, and so it has come to pass...The guy was a prophet !

Interesting indeed.

Dissapointed, but not surprised to see Gowdy endorse Rubio instead of Cruz.
I'm more dissapointed because I thought Gowdy was a game changer like Cruz. Turns out his is just another part of a broken system that fears Trump.

Christianity is under attack by the atheist lefties. The Constitution guarantees "religious freedom." And this issue, while seemingly only a side issue for the 2016 prez campaign, is actually more central than you might think. It's also an issue that can be used, IF done properly, to erode some of the democrapic base away from the left.
If you happen to be in the area (Metairie) you might want to pop in. How often do you get a chance to listen to a presentation by a sitting member of the Supreme Court?

Huh? How did Rubio all of a sudden become a RINO? If the gang of 8 is his only discretion, I don't see what the big deal is. He was right in the last debate that Cruz also supported decriminalization (which is the text-book definition of amnesty). He stopped short of a path to citizenship, but Cruz and Rubio are NOT that different on immigration.

I'm not all about immigration. I think it is a distraction to more important issues. The more hard line Tea Party the better for me. If Rubio has the guts to take on the democrats the way Gowdy has, I'm fine with him.
I guess I am more leery of Rubio because the GOP is okay with him while they are not okay with Cruz.

I think you're spot on about immigration. I don't know how the GOP feels about Rubio because I don't pay a lot of attention to the talking heads. I do know that he's very polished and deliberate. The left will have trouble catching him in a misstatement (like the Bush brothers). He'll present well regardless of how hard the media tries to nail him. I think his conservative bona fides are pretty good. I'd take him or Cruz any day over anybody else in the race, but I think Rubio will be harder for the left leaning media to paint as a crazy person. That matters with an uneducated electorate.

I agree.
As it stands now, I believe Trump is much farther ahead than the polls indicate. I don't think the GOP or the Democrats realize how many of their base are tired of the status quo. It's like even Fox News is amazed that the public is finally fed up with all the crap.

I am right with you on this post. I want an all Cuban ticket at this point and would lean toward Cruz at the top but for electability. My only major concerns with Rubio are his apparent hawkishness and his schwemishness on reigning in the NSA.

I wish I was down there to go to this event.
