LOL!! That's exactly what I was thinking.
LA Tech fans....including "El Aye" Tech fans like PD ;) need to spend more time worrying about getting our mens BB team into an NCAA tournament for the first time in a quarter of a century, rather than worrying about this silly stuff.

I care more about reputation than a pronunciation. I care more about championships than a pronunciation. I care more about both teams playing in March Maddness than a pronunciation. I care more about making it to the College World Series, doubling the endowment, getting a new coach for the Dunkin' Dawgs, curb stomping power 5 schools in all sports (especially in state), and for heaven's sake - replacing pepsi with coke. But now I'm getting a bit dramatic.
I travel a lot too. When someone looks at my shirt or hat that says "LA TECH" they always say "oh, you went to Louisiana Tech", not ellaye tech.
Good post.

Again, it is an easy fix. Why would any of our fans not demand to fix it instead of just settling for 3rd rate?
Because Lah Tech is stupid too. And, the argument the pro LAH folks used is the exact same one that can be used to keep LA Tech.
There’s a proverb in here somewhere.

I wasn't implying that you didn't care about the brand. I wanted to make that distinction by posting a follow up which you replied to. I just believe I have a different perspective given my travels and contact with individuals across the country. Individuals within college and professional athletics as well as sports fanatics and casual fans. To be where we want to be 10 years from now it's all going to matter. Everything you listed as well as an incredibly strong brand.
I've done about 350 weeks on the road in the past 25 years. It's given me a better understanding of just how valuable that brand is - both the state T logo and "Lah Tech". I've heard "Lah Tech" used by those outside our fanbase over the decades many more times more than Louisiana Tech. In state more people use Louisiana Tech or just "Tech". That hasn't been my experience elsewhere.
Re: We got El A Tech'd again.
Ironically, the last 10 posts alone have more market research than was done total before making the branding overhaul.
Re: We got El A Tech'd again.
It should be Tech or Louisiana Tech during games. The we don't have to worry about L A or Lah.
Unless we are playing another Tech

Are you kidding, these last 10 posts were more thorough than our marketing strategy since JOaks was here.

Yes, because whining about it is infantile, like I said before the people on here fighting the complacency of the admin, come off like hypersensitive ULL fans... Lah or ElAye doesn't matter as long as they're talking about us.
Also, when I was enrolled there were L. A. Tech chants/cheers done...

A spelling cheer - NOT a name/brand cheer...
eye-ess-eye-aye-en-aye TECH

I roll my eyes at some of this stuff from some schools. Which is why I try to just grit my teeth and get past the "lah" Tech stuff (which I personally don't like).
But every school in the country works on this stuff to some degree. Everybody has their naming standards, etc. USC and South Carolina had a big fight about who gets to officially use their initials a few years back. I remember seeing media guides in the past with very clear "don't call us this thing that we often get called because we want to be this, this, or this" in them (not just for us). The thing with ULL isn't that they are trying to push a preferred naming convention through so much as what it is that they want to force people to call them (and yeah, you can only ask, even when our media guide I believe used to ask that announcers not use "lah tech" for us, they did it anyway).
It's worth correcting, but fans aren't going to be able to control this (at least not our number of fans), it's got to be the administration and the fans together.

Nothing more difficult than trying to correct stupid mistakes made by academia. It's an easy fix but remember these are the same people who tell us we can get sued for using DAWGS instead of dogs. Sadly it is such an easy fix

Maybe it was an easy fix, but LA Tech is a thing now. Making the “A” lower case is a little late.

If we can destroy 50 years of tradition overnight, we can fix a few years of bad decisions.
