Re: J.C. Love Field Construction
Sad to see Harper Hall going down....speaking of going down, there was a Debbie somebody who resided in Harper. I liked her.
Neilson, Carruthers, Harper, Kidd...all the big dorms have been demolished.
Re: J.C. Love Field Construction
I lived in Caruthers and Hutcheson Hall. I had great memories there, but those were some crappy and ugly dorms. The metal louvers on the window did not age well.

I am still of the opinion that dorm life is a horrifying and necessary character building experience.

Agree but some of the facilities we had were horrible and embarrassing. I remember seeing families checking out some of these dorms on their campus tour and thought this will turn them away.
They smelled and the elevators were death traps.

I lived in Jenkins and Nielson...if "lived" is the correct term. Moved out of Nielson after the fall quarter of my junior year into an apartment on Mississippi Street. Yes, right on top of the railroad....no train could sneak by us, by gawd!
Re: J.C. Love Field Construction
Kidd was bad when my mom was there in the '60s. It was worse when my wife was there in the '00s.

Re: J.C. Love Field Construction
I have two granddaughters enrolled at Longwood and visited them a number of times prior to the Covid 19. They have a nice campus in a small town, similar to Tech in Ruston, just smaller. We have noticed the construction upgrades as well. By the way, I'm proud of both granddaughters for their academic results there.

Yep. It appears the Tech administration made a decision to eradicate all the dorms and buildings built in the 1960's and early 1970's. If our campus buildings are any indication, architects were well over-paid during those years.

But not as much as the contractors were.

I was in Nielson for 3 years in the late '80's, and it should have been torn down in the early '80's.

Maybe not, but you have to admit, you’d crank those shut and you couldn’t tell if If was 2 am or 2 pm outside. Talk about a nap.
