I know it probably took a few min to write the bill, but still seems like a waste of time and focus from these government folks.

Changing subjects briefly...
Has there been any more word on Cumbie's new salary or contract? I really like what Kiffin's new incentive-laden contract looks like at Ole Miss.

Did I hear right that Sloan is going to LSU as their QB coach? If true that should be very interesting for them.
Why would anyone hire a QB coach who wasn’t allowed to coach QB’s the entire time he was at his previous job?
My first thought when I saw this report: If Sloan is successful at LSU it will further expose one weakness of our prior head coach. One of the criticisms of HCSH was that he did not let his assistant coaches do their job. Sure, Sloan will overall have better offensive players at LSU but he will face teams with overall better defenses than he did at Tech.
Joe will be successful at LSU. He was a caged bird under Holtz. If you read his bio you would understand why. Hard work pays off and I wish him the best—he’s a great guy.
....especially after the QB experiences LA Tech has had over the past 2 seasons, or even longer? It's not like we lit it up or anything. According to this chart, LA Tech's 2021 season passing efficiency rating didn't even make the Top 110 list of FBS schools for 2021. There's only 130 schools in all of FBS.

The hire of Joe Sloan is a MAJOR REACH by new LSU Coach Brian Kelly. Kelly has spent his entire 38-yr coaching career in the Great Lakes region of the country; first at Grand Valley St, then Central Michigan, later Cincinnati and of course Notre Dame. Kelly has never coached in the deep south, and I'm sure he knows absolutely nothing about the state of Louisiana. This is a desperate attempt by Kelly to get some "roots" established in Louisiana, and since Sloan was available, it makes sense.....for a desperate man who has no idea where C.E. Byrd High School is.
I seem to remember a Byrd HS kid playing at Notre Dame. Maybe it was before Brian Kelly got there...But if it was Kelly, then surely he knows where C.E. Byrd High School is.
However, I agree with HD's bigger point. Kelly better have staffers who have recruited Louisiana, Texas, and the South before.
Arnaz Battle
Great player with a great football name!
I don't remember watching Troy (we are same age)
Byrd vs. Huntington: 1992 W, 17-7; 1993 W, 11-8; 1994 L, 46-41; 1995 W, 30-21
Crazy stat about Arnaz Battle, enter this season, he was still Byrd's #4 All-Time Passing Yards leader @ #4 All-Time Rushing Leader (23 years later) and career scoring leader.
Battle was 3 years behind me at Byrd. Even as a freshman he was something to see. All around great football player.
Easily one of my favorite HS players of all time, but I am biased as a fellow Yellowjacket alum.
Struggled at ND finding a spot (but understandable because ND was terrible while he was there. Some rough years for the Irish.) but still made the NFL I think as a WR for awhile.
Hays leaving Tech for the same position at Troy looks bad.
Holtz got a new job. Good luck!

For the next several years at least, Holtz won't have to worry about the league folding and not having a salary coming in - thanks to Tech paying him for the next several years. He should be able to go and have fun. Maybe he'll be able to sign a few former Tech guys to be on the team. Last I heard, J'Mar Smith was not playing anywhere. I plan to watch some of the games, if for no other reason than to see if the team plays up-tempo, or the old boring style we saw the last few years at Tech.
Screw it. Good luck Skip. It would be cool for some Tech guys or even CUSA guys he is familiar with have a chance to play after college.
I would like to see the USFL have success.
I pulled for the Birmingham Iron in the short-lived Alliance of American Football League (AAF). Quinton Patton was on the team.
The soap opera continues at Hawai'i.
June Jones -- 'No coach in their right mind' would accept conditions Hawai'i offered (espn.com)
Brings back memories of the old Shreveport Steamer from the WFL. Went to watch one of their first practices when they moved from Houston to Shreveport. Ended up able to work in the clubhouse and on the sidelines during the first few games. Still remember going to a McDonalds with Jim Nance, a huge guy who was a running back with the Steamer (previously with the Patriots from the NFL). The man could eat! Also brings back memories when Jim Kiick, Paul Warfield and Larry Csonka came to play against the Steamer. Lots of buzz that night at State Fair Stadium.
Sounds like a good place to take a couple of years off in a paradise, though, if you had no ambition to keep moving up to bigger programs.
Figured Hawai'i was going to hire someone with prior connections to the program. No way someone from outside was going to accept the conditions being imposed.
