And F1 in Austin. This would have been a great week for the @ San Marcos game.

Tech had no control over the date of the conference game. That comes directly from Mr. Peanut head over at the WAC offices.

We do have some input because we can make scheduling requests to the WAC. Then WAC sends us a tentative schedule for us to ok, and we are allowed to work with the other WAC schools to switch games around if all parties are ok with it. Then the WAC sends out a finalized conference schedule.
Re: 2012 Football Schedule & Future Schedules
Just tried to make reservations at the Fairfield and Holiday Inn. They are booked already for 10/20, 11/3, and 11/17. Any idea why they would already be booked?

They might set aside rooms for visiting teams/fans. Grambling has a home game Nov 3 vs. Jackson State. I can't find any other Grambling home dates.

November 17th is the day of the LA Tech Fall 2012 Commencement Ceremony.
FWIW, November 3rd is the same day as the ULM vs. ULL football game in Monroe.
Re: 2012 Football Schedule & Future Schedules
Sleep Inn says they won't take reservations until all the football schedules are released in the area.

Its been that way for awhile. I was previously told the local hotels have blocked out all the fall weekends until the schedules are released. I was able to book the first and last games for the Hampton.

Probably so. But how in the heck are we supposed to make reservations. I do this each year and this has never happened before.

Glad all of my inlaws still live in Ruston area. Not having to fight for hotel rooms makes it nice and cheap!!
Re: 2012 Football Schedule & Future Schedules
The real head scratcher here is the USU game on Nov 17.
Why are we playing on quarter break when Dec 1 is available ?????
Re: 2012 Football Schedule & Future Schedules
Part of the deal to move last years LSU Bama game to primetime last year was to make it a night game this year.

Good question. Both of us are open on December 1. Our guys will also be focused on finals and staying eligible for our bowl game that entire week before the Utah State game.

USU is idle the prior week. Asking them to move the Nov17 game to Dec1 would mean giving them 2 consec bye weeks. That's unlikely.
Accommodating our preference for no home games during qtr break will therefore mean tweaking the Nov 10 conference schedule. And that could lead to monkeying with the whole thing.
This is not a bad home schedule the way it is now. But it would be dang near perfect if we could get the USU game moved. (At least from this fan's perspective).

Odds of a game on December 1st being on tv would be kinda slim considering it is conference championship week. I bet the WAC learned their lesson last year with our game at Nevada and want to give our game vs Utah State the best chance to be picked up by some national broadcast.
Do not hold me to that though because I have no clue what the TV landscape will look like that day.
