Had not been annnounced. It surely will be sometime between 11 am and 3 pm.
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
Right, the Army game is a good home-away-from-home game because of the media exposure and local support. You will notice this is precisely the reason games in S'port are a bad idea.
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
Well Grambling does the same thing with a rival at the Cotton Bowl and there isn't much national recognition much less an increase in a fan base. Why not show the country that there are other teams in Louisiana, than just LSU and play in Ruston. It kind of beats the purpose of having a stadium or trying to expand the stadium.

Grambling gets a LOT of press on that game - for different reasons, maybe, but a lot of press. We need to market Dallas. Shreveport is not working. Besides, if we start getting some of the Dallas market, if the past holds to form, Shreveport will follow.
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
Like to see how that marketing works out. There wasn't much for the Texas A&M game(still turned out great even though we loss).

Apples and Oranges. Grambling is a SWAC school with a weak FCS program. LA Tech had a Top 25 program in 2012 that won 9 games. If you can't see the value in playing Army in an early season game in the Cotton Bowl, God help you.

I know there is a big difference between Grambling and Louisiana Tech. But we struggle to fill the Joe during regular conference games. Though we had a great season last year we didn't exactly end the season on a good note. Scheduling a game there after all the players and coaches we loss makes it hard to see why we would play at a stadium that can seat just over 90,000 people. I'm sure beating Army will look good for us, but they are about on the same level as we are on this season. Army has about the same size fan base as we do and big TV companies like packed stadiums and to keep big TV companies interested why not look like we have lots of fans right at home.
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
The game is nationally televised.

I just saw this today. You certainly jest?

With Ft Sill and Ft Hood within a 3-hour drive not to mention the number of West Point "ring knockers" at those locations and the fact that tickets will probably be cheap and easily aquired. I've got a sneaking suspicion that Army will have a very good showing at this game! Moreover, you can damn well count on the fact that this game will be well advertised at those two posts!

Back in 2006 (?), I attended the Baylor vs Army football game in Waco. This was before RGIII arrived on campus. While Army certainly brought a healthy crowd, it wasn't overwhelming. There were probably 15K Army fans in attendance that day, most wearing Army fatigues. And most were "bused in" from the nearby Army bases you mentioned.
I expect Army fans to be a little more excited about traveling to Dallas in 2013 than Waco in 2006. I'm sure many will try to make an entire weekend of it. I expect Army to bring between 15K and 20K. After that, we need to do our part. LA Tech fans need to travel at least 12K to this game. With 5K walk-ups, total attendance should be between 30K and 35K.
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
I plan to drive to the game from Abilene...Although, I will probably have to set some time aside for my wife to go to Grapevine Mills Mall to do some shopping. Better yet, I'll have her drop me off at the game then she can go and do whatever she wants!
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
Of course, if there can be no more flyovers, will the buses to events be curtailed in the fall, too?
Re: 2013 Football Schedule
I'm just stating an opinion, and in the end I could be wrong since the major colleges in Texas either have a bye week or an away game. But I'd rather see red and blue all through(and a fan or two with black and gold) the stadium than just a mix of random colors from local outsiders.
