I agree. I believe it was mentioned when the rule was announced that an extra "order taker" is not what our HC needs.

Wouldn't surprise me. Would be interesting to hear TMac's side. Total speculation, but it could be a dispute about the pay level of the coach. Skip's prospects want more than we are willing to pay. TMac won't approve more bc he thinks Skip is aiming too high, he doesn't understand why we can't promote a GA or something. If Skip leaked to the media in that situation, I would find that to be objectionable.

I've never thought being objectionable towards our AD was a concern of Holtz.:laugh:

Correct me if I"m wrong, but our much admired S&C football trainer is not considered a coach is he? I'd think that "salary" has to come out of the athletic budget in some form.

We would have enough money for another assistant if we played nlu.

No, but they would advertise before the game that is should be played in Monroe because they have more coaches than we do, and that it’s a sell out because it was dress in empty bleacher camo day for the Tech Game.

Seriously? We have one co-head coach who is paid like a head coach and one co-head coach who is paid like an assistant. Therefore, we have one head coach and one assistant from the same family. Louisiana's nepotism laws do not allow that to happen, so we must name them co-head coaches. It's not that hard to understand.

I don't know. I would love to have a full-time special teams coach with some experience. I saw what happened last year against UAB and Southern Miss where we had special teams coaching issues late in both games.

Exactly. But it doesn’t take a rocket surgeon to figure out that kicking from outside the 40 may backfire sometimes (a lot of the time). Also, any coach can tell a player, “hey, that directional kick crap has gotten us burned a lot. Just put it in the end zone.”

Do any of you guys know what the dollar amount is, in the pool of funding, to pay football assistants at Tech? Just curious what Skip has to work with compared to the rest of the G5.

Based on what Skip and Tommy said at the Bulldog Blitz in Shreveport tonight, it sounds like it is not a matter of if a 10th coach will be hired, it is a matter of when it will happen. It could even be before the season begins this year. But I guess we'll see if it actually happens.

We know it’s many $$$ less than any other school in the country because we never hear the end of “doing more with less”.
