During the broadcast they said he suffered a shoulder injury at Tech and thought his career was over. Went to a JUCO, I think they said and ended up at Murray after that

Helluva a game by Gage Wood…wow
All sports have dumb, arbitrary rules...baseball too. Here's another one: on the first pitch the batter swings, foul tips it into the glove of the catcher, strike one. Does the same on the next pitch, strike two. For it to be a strike-out on the third foul tip the catcher has to actually catch that one too. Okay. But, the next hitter steps in, first pitch swings, gets just a piece of it but it pops up back toward the stands; the catcher with cat-like reflexes catches the ball. Strike one? Nope! that's an out. So, why isn't a foul tip straight into the catcher's mitt, even on the first pitch, also an out?
Just asking...
Foul Ball / Foul Tip - UmpireBible
"A FOUL TIP is a batted ball that goes sharp and direct from the bat to the catcher and is legally caught. It is not a foul tip unless caught and any foul tip that is caught is a strike, and the ball is in play."
In a 1-0 game no comments about how many were LOB by both teams and what they should have done differently?
I love a pitchers duel. Great game to watch, but an extremely crappy field setup.
They commented at one point that Coastal had already LOB 8. That those missed opportunities were going to cost them. I didn't hear any other comments though.
