I just pulled up my recording and timed the kickoff return from when the ball was picked up until the runner's knee hit where they marked the ball. It was 3.5 seconds. Four seconds came off, so no issue with that.

You seem to have an obsession with correcting people. just saw you correct someone else on another thread. Take a breath.

Better to have the info corrected than to complain about an issue that wasn't there.

Speaking "unemotionally" for a second......I think LA Tech fans really need to consider whether our football program may have already peaked under Holtz. For some, this record may be okay. For others, it may not be okay. But we shouldn't be afraid to ask the tough questions....
1) Is this as good as it gets?
2) Is our fan base going to be satisfied with simply being a perennial CUSA title contender (even though we still haven't won one yet.)?
3) Could a younger, more aggressive coach make LA Tech more competitive, and lead Tech to some wins over P5's, including a win at LSU next year?
4) And what would a win next year in Baton Rouge do for our football program?
I know coaches with 9-4 & 9-5 seasons don't get fired. And I'm not calling for that. But, I'm truly starting to believe, if we ever want to move to the next level, Holtz may need to go. But, for some folks --many folks-- a "move to the next level" may not be worth the risk.
1) Yes.
2) Read all the negative comments on this board telling us to just be happy we're winning 9 games against the worst football teams in history.
3) Perhaps.
4) Wonders.
But you know very well that Tech could hire Saban, and transfer all the Alabama AND Clemson teams to Ruston, and we'd still come up short in BR next year. It's in our blood, and we will NEVER be able to rise above it. Just not who we are.

I was not watching at the time and didn't realize how long it took them to gather the ball. It seemed like an eternity. Dave and Teddy agreed.

One of the dangers of hiring an up and comer is we could hire the wrong guy once or a few times, and we'd fall back into mediocrity for a while (SoMiss with Ellis Johnson is a big example, Boise with Harsin may be another; USU & SJU after losing their coaches in 2012 are good examples as well)
Skip has shown success against the big boys (at ECU). I'm confident he'll get us an access bowl if we keep our trajectory.

What has he done since being at Tech? All in all, nothing. We haven't won a championship. Outclassed every time. Same can be said for important games, and most importantly the P5 games. Sure, we've won some bowls. Unless they're the top bowls, they're not worth anything. We aren't getting access bowl with Holtz unless he makes several changes to his coaching philosophy and execution of it.
Re: Week 4: @South Carolina (9/23)
An "up and coming" will never get us to an access bowl. He would be gone long before that happened. Hell, we lose "up and coming" guys with losing records.

Division championships and Bowl championships are still championships bud :P
I know what you mean, but I believe Holtz can do it. Many people say Holtz hasn't beaten a Money 5 while at Tech, that's wrong because he beat a bowl eligible Money 5, much better than the 3 Money 5 teams that Sonny Dykes beat (Illinois was 6-6 when we played in 2014, Dykes beat a 2-10 Illinios & 4-8 Virginia in 2012, and a 2-10 Ole Miss in 2011)!
He also beat two top 15 teams in his final year at ECU, and I believe he finished with 2 straight CUSA championships there
Sonny's close game against Texas A&M (11-3) & Houston (13-1) were probably his best losses, followed by Utah State (11-2) and MSST (7-6). Holtz's close losses against KST and Arkansas weren't terrible either (I'm saying best as the competition was decent, not like 2014 NWST or ODU, or 2011 Hawaii; let's revisit USCar at the end of the year)
Dooley's one big Money 5 win was against a 4-8 MSST.
Only other times we beat a Money 5 with bowl eligibility this century were with 8-5 Michigan State and 8-5 Oklahoma State (both with Luke McCown) ... just saying

One win. Out of over 10 games. No, he can't win. He doesn't want to. Those games don't matter to him.

Irrevalent. He's at Tech. And he had a stop at USF before coming here. Anything and everything done at ECU has no bearing on anything.

It makes no difference if the P5 is good or bad. We lose, we lose big. We win, we win huge. We need the win not a "good" loss. Holtz isn't doing it.

This website disagrees with you on the bowl: http://www.fanatics.com/Heart_of_Dal...wl_Merchandise
This CUSA media publication disagree with you on the division championship (see at least page 6) http://www.conferenceusa.com/documents/2017/6/29/2017_C_USA_Football_Guide.pdf
I'm sure I can find several more sources to back up my claim. They are also championships in Tech's eyes, and my eyes, but maybe not to you

Another emotional vs. logical post. 10% is still greater than 0%, thus even if Holtz only one 1/100, he has still beaten the Money 5 while still at Tech.

It makes a difference to me. I don't want to root for a Sun Belt school which is blown out against good competition. Holtz has rarely been blown out, and MOST of his losses have been close. I'm choosing to ignore 2013 here (in my defense I was studying out of the country that year) ;)
