We had a H.S. football Asst. coach (Tech alum, former FB player) with the Last name Dick. As I recall, he was glad his last name wasn't Mudd.

Y'all have it mixed up. It wasn't 2 Dicks. It was a Dick and a Johnson, both QBs. Johnson was not performing, so Coach Nutt announced he was going to start Dick for the upcoming game with South Carolina. The headline was ...
