Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
LSUS can be, just about, written off as of this moment. When the BIG budget cuts come through next year they will wish they had the TECH option on the table.
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE NEWS! There are people who complain about Jindal's power. The people at the LSU can get whatever they want and kill anything they don't want. Will this situation ever change for the better?
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
Returning a bill to the calendar allows it to be brought forward again. I hope to know tonight or tomorrow whether it will be resurrected.
The breadth and depth of ignorance on display is so great that, for me, it actually calls into question the long-term viability of representative government itself.
Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
The absolute arrogance of those at LSU appears to be supported by unbridled power. Who cares what is good for the state all I care about is what is good for LSU. Not even the LSU System, but the main campus only.

Re: The (LA Tech/LSUS) Merger Thread II
On top of this, Rep. Broadwater's bill to allow our universities to increase tuition to help offset state budget cuts was also pulled because it didn't have enough support.

LSUS is in deep $hit.
LSUS has printed their final school newspaper. They can't afford to print them going forward.

It's over for this year and if you think otherwise, you are naive.

It's not a question of whether or not it's dead. It's a question of whether or not it will be brought to a vote. I enjoyed your naivete remark. It reminded of a time when I actually was ...:icon_wink:

Per email sent out today in the system office pending budget cuts
LSU Shreveport
- Terminate or layoff large numbers of faculty and staff.
- Reduce scholarship offers to students.
- Severely reduction of course offerings, delaying student graduation.
- Possible loss of accreditation of some programs.
- Possible reduction of academic programs.
- Failure to meet GRAD ACT goals for FY 2013-14, which could lead to
further financial problems.

That's what LSU means by being "committed" to Shreveport. WTG politicians. What a joke.

What was this list? A to-do list for next round of budget cuts?
