Maybe I am in the minority, but I think they were both wrong. This was Trump's "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon" moment, where he turned a criminal justice matter into a racial and political issue.

Both were trying to appeal to what they thought their base was.

Everything seems to be political now, even where you go #2!

But if you think that President Obama (or President Trump) could publicly state that the sky is blue or icees are delicious and not get roasted, you haven't been paying attention to political discourse in this country (or on this board). There would have been hundreds of opinion pieces on Fox News about Obama stirring things up and how he should stay out of businesses and not tell NFL owners how to run their business. Of course there would have been. And Tyler would have posted half of them here. And 80 would have commented with fun and super-original nicknames for everyone. And nobody would have listened to any of the arguments for the other side.

Because that's how we debate in this country.

Meanwhile, no big deal. Watch, don't watch - whatever. HD is right that the NFL has all manner of issues beyond this. Y'all skip it and watch PBS or NASCAR or go outside. I think those are great things to do on Sunday afternoons (I like to nap myself). I'll watch (when it's convenient), you won't. The billionaires and millionaires will get by (or not).

Yeah, he gave them a much bigger platform than if he had kept quiet. They're all over the place on what they're screaming from the platform, but it did not have to be gift-wrapped for them.

I don't believe that to be true. When Obama was President last year, I was VERY MUCH against Kaepernick's kneeling for the national anthem. I'm still opposed today. I'm just glad that Trump TOOK A STAND against the NFL for allowing this to happen, instead of foolishly taking Obama's path of appeasement.

You might be right about our board.:icon_roll: I can honestly say I would have applauded it. I haven't watched since last year, and Obama certainly did nothing to stop it. He did nothing but divide the country. I'll pass on the PBS or NASCAR, but I have found lots of other things to do I assure you.

A German soccer team (in Berlin) took a knee today as the PA guy explained all of Berlin stands with the players of the NFL (well, not stands, kneels).

As the players and staff knelt, a stadium announcer explained the gesture to fans. “Berlin is colorful,” the PA announcer reportedly said. “Hertha BSC stands for diversity and against violence. For this reason, we are joining forces with the protest of our fellow American athletes to take a stand against discrimination. For a tolerant Berlin, both now and forevermore.”

George Soros has a hand in this. Nazi thugs joining forces.
