And to answer Goosey, the Senate's constitutional authority to try articles of impeachment against Trump ended over 11 days ago. Bills of attainder are not allowed in this country.
I don't know the details of what is allowed/not allowed in normal times because I know this is anything but normal times, and the rules are whatever Pelosi/Schumer want them to be. Yeah, I know the argument that the purpose of impeachment is to determine if an office holder should be dismissed from said office. Federal judges can be impeached too, and probably some others as well. Given that Trump IS out of office one might ask, well, what's the point of going through all of this? The Constitutional answer is: there is no point. The libtard/Swamp answer is: they don't want Trump to be able to run again in 2024.
Impeachment only allows a permanent bar from office as a additional punishment after removal from office. Can't do the second without the first.
Any legislative action against a private citizen that cannot qualify under impeachment provisions (including due to the tardiness of the action) becomes a bill of attainder. Since the constitutional issue was raised already, any almost impossible Trump conviction would be appealed to the Supreme Court and should be overturned by a simple read of the Constitution without any extensive interpretation needed.
Even the Dimmwits aren't dumb enough to do what they know they would have to do to actually get Trump barred from seeking office--try and convict him on the bogus charges that would have to be filed in a court of law.

And the Constitution doesn’t say you have to have a removal and disqualification. Instead it expresses it in terms of the maximum punishment that can be applied.
