Not remotely the same thing. They didn’t incite an insurrection. Trump did. This was the culmination of months of telling a big lie to convince people they had to take the matter into their own hands to save the country.

You are so effed up.
Same could be said of all those I mentioned. One thing they said was bad enough, but the collection of threats and calls for confrontation over the years of their “service” is egregious.
Remember, Goosey has told us that inciting speech must first pass the litmus test before we determine if it is indeed inciting. If it’s a Republican, it’s hateful, and they should be stripped of all of their power immediately. If it’s a democrat, we need to look at the context of the speech.
Pandora's box needs to be opened. Any POTUS that breaks the law while POTUS needs to be put on trial.
And, I'm not entirely sure I agree with DoJ that a sitting POTUS should be immune from prosecution. Though, I do think the barrier for evidence and charges needs to be much higher. Of course, it really comes down to acting in good faith (all around), and I'm not sure there are many of us around anymore.
Y'all have ignored context for a long time.
LOL! narcissist alert. And, pathetically ridiculous. Just wear your hammer & sickle patch proudly, comrade.
Amazing how absolutely silent you were when obummer sold machineguns to drug cartels...that's not a crime? "Any POTUS that [who] breaks the law..." you say. But what you really mean is any non-commie bastard POTUS should be held accountable. Obummer, Biden, Clinton...all of whom committed much worse crimes than Trump even dreamed of, get a free pass, eh.
The final vote will be almost exactly the same as the "Constitutional" vote.
As you could see with the first attorney in particular yesterday (for Trump) it literally doesn't matter what either side says. On the left, right or wrong, they've decided. On the right, the ones who feel really strongly and are willing to take the fallout have probably decided, but I guess some could waiver. The hard core Trump allies don't care what's said because they've made up their minds. I think the vote would be closer if it was a secret ballot like the Cheney thing, but it won't be so the rest of the Republicans just need a fig leaf. They need just enough (like the "is it Constitutional" question or the details of the accusation to cover themselves to vote for Trump). That's why so many were mad at the lawyer. They just want some tiny scrap to cling to to justify their votes.
And they've got it.
So the final vote will look just like yesterday's. The presenting teams are really just going on the record for history at this point. Politically, this might really backfire on the Democrats (and while I think some believe in the process and that it's the right or necessary thing to do, others are certainly thinking more politically here). Trump will almost certainly "win" in the sense that he won't be barred from office. So he gets to go back to being a winner, gets another "look at the swamp picking on me" talking point.
Politics sucks.
Gawd! the dems are shameless...have to hand it to 'em. But then dems have always been shameless. They have a singular focus: the complete destruction of America. Double standards, hypocrisy? Not even close. To watch some demo bimbo lamenting that the "mob" was trying to destroy the Capitol building, a building devoted to the legacy of the Founding Fathers...oh, boo hoo. You libs HATE the Founding Fathers and want to cancel them from history and tear up their document, the Constitution. So, spare me your fake concern over their legacy.
Next, all this fake concern over Mike Pence. Gimme a break! You dems would have happily tossed Pence to the "mob" if you thought you could have gotten away with it.
So, I call BS on all your contrived concerns about Pence, the FF, the Constitution, and for America.
